The hotel itself is beautiful. The restaurant is located next to a river with forest all around, food is great and service just as great. Villas are quite comfortable and cosy, each one has a jacuzzi and terrace, enough space for kids to play and room service is available. The surroundings are just incredible. They’ve managed to re-forest the entire place, there’s beautiful vegetation everywhere, hiking trails, waterfalls, bikes free for use, a small farm in which kids can feed trout and chickens and visit their green house where they grow ingredients for their restaurant. Horseback riding tours are available too which are great for the whole family. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, all of them where polite and more than happy to assist with everything, they make the stay much more enjoyable and make you feel welcomed since you arrive at the front gate. Around the area within 10 minutes you can drive to Dinoland, which is super fun for kids and offers tours and hiking, trout fishing all around and some amazing sights. I honestly loved the place, and we’ll definitely visit many times, specially since my son planted a tree which is a part of their reforestation efforts, and he’s very excited to see the tree grow.…
A paradise in Cost Rica! We decided to visit Costs Rica after found El Silencio online and the pictures online did not do it justice. The service The locals and staff members were the best part of our stay. We met the nicest and most warm people who took care of us and attended to our every need in such detail. We got to know the staff members on a personal level and it made the stay even more special. (A huge thank you to Merlyn from reception, Bryon, Edwardo and Kenneth(much thanks to pics) from activities and Mario, Alejandro and Luis from dining 😊). Activities We were blown away by the caliber of in-house activities. Usually we tend to venture out of resorts to find the best experiences, but during our stay at El Silencio we took advantage of the zip-lining, horse back riding and waterfall hikes situated just inside the resort, which were absolutely breathtaking. To summarize we were so impressed with the place and what it had to offer. I would definitely recommend this place if you enjoy adventure and beauty. El Silencio would remain as one of the most memorable place in our hearts. Thank you everyone!💖…
We booked this hotel through the Relais et Chateau website and had planned to use a generous gift certificate that we received for our wedding. We indicated this on the reservation. When we arrived, they did not indicate there would be a problem using the gift certificate. Yet on teh day we checked out, the hotel said they did not know how to redeem the Relais et Chateau gift certificate. It has been almost a month since we checked out and the matter has not yet been resolved. The room and accommodations were great and the staff was very pleasant. We enjoyed hiking to the waterfalls. We have fond memories of the trip. But we hope the matter of the gift certificates is resolved soon.
The landscaping is vast, rich and beautiful! Waterfalls, Hiking tours, Archery, Outdoor Yoga, Sound baths, a Hot tub on a deck in every freshly decorated private cabin, stunning views, full service spa and the delicious farm to table eggs, fish, fruits, vegetables and more! The entire staff, management and tour guides were all genuinely kind extending every best effort toward our every comfort. I can’t recommend this place more highly. Truly a piece of heaven in a cloud forest.
Definitely the most healing luxurious place to stay in Costa Rica. We were literally in a cloud forest with farm to table food and all the amenities one could want. Everything about El Silencio is 5 star and beyond. Each lodge is beautiful with your own private jacuzzi and spectacular views, the craft cocktails are perfectly balanced and the food is literally grown in their green house. The property is on 500 acres with amazing trails to waterfalls, wildlife observing and even swings in the middle of the forest. I can’t wait to go back!
Really hard to review this hotel without resorting to serious superlatives. We LOVED our room -- really, your own cabin. Floor to ceiling glass, filled with light, your own spa, super well appointed. If you're into jungles and waterfalls -- and who isn't? -- you have miles of hiking, biking, running trails into it all -- feet away from your front door. The service was as good as I've found in the best hotels around the world -- from everyone (wait staff, front desk, General Manager, cleaning staff, etc.). The food was incredible. My partner loved all her meals. I'm a vegetarian and was a bit challenged for plant-based protein, but the new head chef there made me a special meal on our second night that included a quinoa gnocchi he created for the meal was was truly one of the best vegetarian dished I've had. He's creating a new menu and I pleaded with the chef and GM to include it! If you're traveling to Costa Rica, I highly recommend you include El Silencio. Like us, you may consider it one of your favorite hotels anywhere.…
After two years, we had the opportunity to visit this stunning hotel in the cloud forest of Costa Rica. Again, the service and warmth of their staff captivated us, we will definitely become regulars on our future trips! Thanks to Rolando for the experience at Toro Bohemio bar!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had the most incredible stay here. Everything from the villa to the grounds to the hospitality simply blew us away. We brought our three kids - ages 5 and 3-year old twins- and instantly felt like family. They were so kind and accommodating, and our kids just fell in love with the staff. We hiked (the Mystic and waterfalls), gathered eggs from the chicken coop for the kitchen, fed the trout, spent hours drinking hot chocolate and playing by the fire in the lodge, planted a tree by our villa, and enjoyed the rainy, beautiful scenery. The food was amazing and the wine list was just as incredible. We absolutely CANNOT wait to come back. My husband (who has traveled extensively worldwide for his work) said this is the best place he’s ever stayed!
Our visit from the room, to the service of the marvelous staff to the food and the location allowed us to enjoy an amazing weekend. The Restaurant and the selections in the menu, are delightful. For the staff their intent, and warmth are exceptional.
This hotel, while located in a natural paradise, offers little value for the price. The best views are located outside the property. Pros: * Located in the middle of waterfalls * Onsite waterfalls * Adventure park with zip lines * The staff tries to be helpful Cons: * Slow service at the restaurant. Overpriced for value. The restaurants outside the property have better food at a much lower price. * Poor options for vegetarians * Difficult to schedule times for activities * Isolated and not close to anything * Some rooms have views of ... other rooms instead of nature. * Hot water is finicky and didn't work well * The humidity makes it hard to dry things
