Spent three nights here. The cabins had mosquito nets and open air bathrooms. There was also a key safe. Lovely location at lakeside set in garden with hammocks. We spent our days bobbing in tyres in the warm water. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was good. Lunch available in bar overlooking lake. Life jackets also available and kayaks. Very... More

When planning our trip to Cost Rica and Nicaragua with our pre-teen boys and a set of their grandparents we knew that we'd need a relaxing and comfortable place to land in Nicaragua. Having traveled to Nicaragua in 2013 we knew that San Simian fit the bill and we knew that it would be fun enough for the kids and... More

Wonderful accommodations, friendly staff, good food, amazing lake and lots of fun with other guests. Two single women staying for 4 days. Other guests ranged from a young American family, single European professionals, retired Canaian and Argeninian adventure couple. All of us were happy clients.

We had a great time at a very clean lodge on a very clean lake. The host, Daniel, made us feel like family. The food was great. The private outdoor bathrooms and showers were fun. The lake is clean and beautiful. There are no alligators or sharks in this lake.

What a great place! I stayed for 5 nights in the Papaya bungalow which was close to the water. The housekeeping team did a wonderful job...the room was cleaned everyday and the towels/sheets smelled fresh. The wi-fi signal was strong throughout the property. The outdoor bathrooms and showers were fully enclosed which made for a unique experience. I liked that... More

This might be our new favorite place! If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, this place is for you. There are five cabins on site overlooking a beautiful, clean lake. This is the type of place you come to unwind and stay put. There isn't anything to do within walking distance, so if you don't... More

We stayed two nights in the cabin Coco in San Simian. The cabin is small, but cosy. The hotel isn't cheap compared to other hotels in Nicaragua, but it's worth its price since you pay for the fantastic location. It's situated in front of the lagoon and therefore it is the ideal place to swim, relax or to enjoy tasty... More

This wonderful hotel was our introduction to Nicaragua and did not disappoint at all. The casitas are charming with comfy beds and bed nets. The outdoor bathrooms had my daughters dancing in joy! The swimming was a highlight and the kids loved the kayaks and inner tubes. We ate all our meals at the restaurant. It was lovely to pre-order... More

I have just finished my 4th stay at San Simian - twice in 2014 and twice in 2016. It is worth a second review because ... well I keep coming back! I love that it is a smaller place - 5 casitas and with limited day trippers. The water is always warm and I love a tranquil early morning swim... More

I cannot say enough about how perfect this place is. Daniel, the owner, was very helpful with all of my questions before and after I made our reservations. He helped to provide transport during our stay and really did everything to make our visit perfect. He is very knowledgeable about Nicaragua, various cities and sites and the flora and fauna... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
San Simian is a charming Eco Lodge in the Laguna de Apoyo Dry Forest Preserve. Nestled along the water's edge, this secluded resort has private unique lodging tucked into the slope of the crater and steps from the swimming dock, hammocks and bar where guests pass the time. Guests can stay in a unique palm-roofed cottage with open air shower, private garden or terrace, eat at our full service restaurant and relax at our outdoor bar. As San Simian is equipped with a Catamaran, several Kayaks, and other water toys, activity revolves at the lake front and in the clear warm water itself, however, bird and monkey watching in the surrounding forest are also popular, and we are also located at the entrance to a great hike path that leads up the hill to the Pueblas Blancas artisan villages and the stunning Mirador at Catarina. Please Call Ahead if you would like us to arrange a massage, pedicure, Spanish lesson, guided hike, Granada or Masaya tour. ... more   less
