I have been to La Abuela on several trips to Nicaragua and it definitely doesn't disappoint. It is such a beautiful location, wonderful for relaxing. I have only been there on day trips but they do have little cabins where you can stay for a night or two. I would love to stay a night just to experience the whole...

We spent a gorgeous two nights in one of the lagoon-facing cabins. Food slightly more expensive than elsewhere but home/cooked charm and friendly staff make up for that. Easy place to chill and swim, 20 mins from Granada. Kayaks and diving platform make for simple fun. Cabins are well appointed with fridges and sinks so bring own food to keep...

This was my favorite part of my vacation in Nicaragua. I live in Los Angeles and I am originally from Nicaragua. This is the place to relax. Only thing is being outside the water and hotel room with ac is hot. Since water is relatively standing its not super hygienic. I had a splinter wound that got massively infected and...

Arrived to this resort last nightt. It's located on the edge of the Laguna de Apoyo, an amazing volcanic lake with incredible clean, still, warm water, equivalent to a natural giant swimming pool. Waking up with the sound of birds, duck and monkeys and have a lovely early swim before breakfast is a good reason to get up early. The...

We were taken to this resort/restaurant y our family who live in Managua. It was not easy to get to so if you are trying to find it without locals guiding you then be prepared for a bit of searching along some pretty dodgy roads! The resort is sited around a lagoon which is an inactive volcano and is in...

Conveniently located within driving distance/bus distance from both Masaya and Managua, this resort provides a gorgeous place to relax and feel pampered. Westerners will feel comfortable in the environment it produces, and I personally appreciated the fact that the resort still feels Nicaraguan- it isn't so Western that you might as well be at a Holiday Inn somewhere. Great food...

We all loved this place. We went for the day and didn't stay the night so can't rate the lodging. We were at the end of our two week nursing trip to Nicaragua and all just hung out in the water and enjoyed the scenery after weeks of hard work. Service was good with food and drinks. We even had...

It is a tough road to get there, but it's worth the trip. La Abuela, that's grandmom for all my english speaking friends is great. On our first night there the bed was not comfortable. She made it right in an hour. The food is very good and the staff are great. There is one drawback, cold water showers. Take...
