I had a salad here; sweet vinaigrette topping with salty dry tomato and -of course- green vegetables + sesame peas and feta cheese. We were the only costumers, so there was a relax atmosphere. Very friendly service.

Well I have just spent a few (4) days here with my girlfriend. We arrived into Managua on 18 November and this was our first stop on our 2 week stay in Nicaragua. From the moment of arriaval to the moment of departure, we were able to relax, enjoy the lake, eat great food, visit both Granada and Masaya volcano and enjoy the great hospitality of the staff here. If you want to be by lake Apoyo then don’t miss this place. It’s only a short drive by taxi from Beautiful Granada. Massages are available, as is a kayak to go out on the lake. Food wise, the kitchen is supreme and serves up great fresh food. Air on is available but a big fan was more than sufficient. Now in Ometepe and for anyone thinking about Nicaragua....have seen nothing but great people and scenery. No issues whatsoever.

My wife and 5 good friends decided to take a break from our hectic lives in San Juan del Sur. Laguna de Apoyo has always been a favorite place to unwind. This was our first time to Casa Marimba and we can't wait to have another excuse to return. The rooms are rustic but comfortable and even offer AC. The food from the restaurant is delicious. Nicaraguan ingredients used to make inspired non traditional recipes. Our two Vegetarian friends especially enjoyed their meals. The entire property is enveloped by lush tropical jungle all the way down to the lake. They have a lounge area lakeside and a nice sandy area on the shore. The staff is friendly and attentive. I'm sure we will see them again soon.

We live nearby and despite having a reservation and calling twice that day to confirm we were on the way they dumped us. There was some rain and a road blockage in Apoyo along with slow business due to the crisis in Nicaragua so we did our part and checked in frequently. Happy Birthday from Casa Marimba!

Response from Iban S, Owner at Casa Marimba

I'm really sorry you didn't have a pleasant experience with us. It is true that on this day the heavy rain made a tree fall on the road, blocking the way and damaging power lines. This happens sometimes during the rain season, and the local community usually does everything to fix it as quick as possible. Could you please give me more details about your experience in Casa Marimba, to make sure it won't happen again? As far as I understood the staff welcomed you and gave you a room, that you didn't like? Saludos Iban

My stay was wonderful. The place is super comfy, the food sooo delicious, the staff very kind and helpful. The beach is right there and super nice, you can take the kayak for free, you can walk 5 min and reach the diveshop. It's quiet and clean. A very good spot to stay on the Laguna.
