Came here for a 1 night stay for our 15th wedding anniversary. Really lovely staff here, very friendly. Food in the restaurant was very nice. A couple of nice touches by the staff to mark our anniversary. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The biggest thing this place lacks is any staff management. Clearly they've struggled to get anyone who's good, but then left them to their own devices. You can tell that they all think 'that's not my job'. Email the spa and the autoresponder is still telling you they are closed. Call up and they say that's wrong. Managed to book the spa facilities, but not when we wanted. But then again they're so dirty and rundown, you'll not want to spend time in there anyway! Bar staff are slow and unaware of hygiene - leaving open tubs of condiments on the side all night to be coughed on and then serving them to the table. There was no cleaning of the tables between use either. It's not like they lack staff numbers, but they're all standing around chatting which you sit there with someone else's dirty cups left on the table! My suggestion is to use it just as a place to stay only, and head in to Cambridge which is full of lovely Cafes that want your custom. You might even get clean cups !

Dear greg g, Thanks for your review. We welcome all feedback and I have shared this with the relevant team members. We have many great team members at the hotel who work incredibly hard to look after our guests and this is very evident in the vast majority of our trip advisor reviews. Quite the opposite of "its not my job" the team continue to multi task across many departments through a very busy period. We do still have a number of vacancies in key areas of the hotel despite a number of initiatives and strategies to fill these roles and so this does sometimes lead to a less skilled team member in a particular area whilst we recruit. I am glad that you were able to book in to use our pool facilities. With every guest in the hotel rightly wanting to use these facilities and government guidelines severely limiting capacity, demand is very high so I am sorry you did not get your preferred time. Full table service in line with government guidance is quite a change from more traditional bar service and does mean a longer wait. The team are very aware of hygiene and are continually cleaning and wiping tables so its a shame that we dont seem to have given this impression. Our team are very aware of COVID guideline and condiments and other items are stored in areas not visited by guests so there is no risk of contamination from coughing as you mentioned. Many thanks David Rowley General Manager

Booked this as a spa break with a friend and this was the first time away from home after shielding. I was really happy with everything until I read TripAdvisor and had a panic on the recent reviews........should not have worried as everything was amazing. Dora and Yana on reception were brilliant and everything from the spa to the rooms and meals were lovely. Sure the hotel needs titavating up in places, the restaurant food is lovely but not ultra fancy and, there are still covid restrictions in place but the staff more than make up for this. My advice would be to book your leisure club time, treatments and meal times in advance of checking in. Chill out, have a drink and enjoy yourselves. 😉

Dear 312yvonneg, Thanks for the review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and that Dora and Yana looked after you. Advancing booking is a great tip for guests wanting to use the facilities at the Hotel like dining, spa and pool access. With guests mainly staying with us for leisure currently and COVID restrictions reducing capacities they are in demand so the early booking will prevent any disappointment. Thanks again for taking the time to review your stay. Many thanks David Rowley General Manager

1st -3rd June. Had a two night stay with my daughter and it was wonderful. Room was perfect, food was delicious, treatments were amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful, service was great. The only small negative was the pool. I had booked treatments and pool time about 3 weeks prior to stay but on the first day we were unable to swim as there was swimming lessons going on and there were too many people in the pool. I feel that we should have received an email regarding the lessons so we could have changed our slot. But apart from that, it was such a lovely hotel and we had a fantastic stay

Dear lelk2018, Thanks for leaving us a review. I am so pleased that you and your daughter enjoyed your stay last week. I am sorry you were not aware of swimming lessons. These take place on weekdays for a couple of hours. Our pool capacities are worked out to include these lessons so guests can still use the facilities safely although I appreciate some guests prefer a quieter environment. We will look at how we can better highlight this to guests in future. Many thanks David Rowley General Manager

The hotel was lovely and the bedroom very modern and comfortable. We managed to book a slot at the swimming pool beforehand so would recommend calling to book before you arrive as it was fully booked. The pool area was nice and had a jacuzzi. It’s about a 20 minute drive from Cambridge city centre.
