We hired one of the residences on Mar Manor golf resort. The flat was clean & spacious with a very generously sized balcony over looking pool 13. Perhaps getting close to needing an internal paint touch up.
One small issue with a leaking aircon system was dealt with very promptly. The accommodation lacked a few essentials such as a cork screw ..... maybe that’s just an essential for me?
The complex is landscaped well and is clearly well maintained, there is one mini market on site. All pools are lifeguard manned.
Situated a short drive from the bars and restaurant and many supermarkets of Los Alcazares it is also very well situated for visiting either ends of the Mar Manor and popping to Cartegena (you can take a train one stop if you don’t fancy city driving).
We would stay here again. Make sure to try the mud baths at Lo Pagan if you do stay in this area..... super experience (and free).

14 of us stayed here for 3 nights on a golf trip.
Disappointed that the course onsite is shut and unlikely to reopen for at least 6 months all over a £40k bill when the site has been sold for £200m+ plus but the other courses we got were good enough.
The rooms we had were quite a good size but did need a little tlc but for us we didn't have a problem.
Breakfast was average but filled a hole.
It's a large site so plenty of walking involved. Just off site is a few more bars and restaurants that are better than the onsite options.
Will probably return when the course reopens and is settled as it's a very good price for what you get.

The apartment was very nice and very spacious. The beds or towels were not changed but I did not expect that. The staff were polite and helpful. The golf course was the major let down and the bunkers had no sand so very difficult to play out off. One hole also advised you were unable to hit driver or 3 wood due to surroundings.

First for the good bits. General area is nice, its a purpose built village with various types of accommodation from privately owned villas to hotels to apartments. The golf is good and there are other good courses in the area to choose from. After this it goes down hill. The residences is up there with the worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. Everything seemed dated and falling apart, think old hostel and you’ll be in the right region. Complaints about the problems with the accommodation were ignored. As for the facilities Im not sure the staff are really interested in good service. I have to be fair and say not all, but most dont seem to want you to be there, it was a horrible atmosphere in the restaurant/bar area in the centre. Another thing to mention, they seem to run out of buggies very quickly so if its hot get in there quickly. Or even better book somewhere else. Not a single member of our group would return here. Dont say you weren’t warned!

Dear Guest, Although we sincerely regret your disappointment with your stay at our property, we would like to thank you for sharing your feedback, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. We were extremely concerned to read your comments with regard to your overall experience at the hotel. Your comments do not reflect the usual standard of service we strive to give our guests, as you may see from other reviews. Furthermore, we would like to inform you that we are in a process of regular updating and renovation of our rooms and their facilities. We look forward to welcoming you back and hopefully on that occasion your perception of our service will be completely satisfactory. Yours faithfully, The Residences at Mar Menor

Fabulous spot to relax. Great staff. Nothing to complain about! Best you have a car to explore other beach resorts like Mar de Kristal, Los Nietos, Los Alcazares. Best think about this place is the sound of water & the Twitter of sparrows. I could like here perminantly!

Great location but the units were so poorly marked, even the locals couldn’t help find the correct one. Door locks need updating. The KEY lock didn’t always work.

Advertised same amenities as the Hotel, however we couldn’t access the pool/hot tub/gym. Only for Hotel guests, not the Residence guests.

The pool for the Residences was closed upon arrival. Opened 2 days later. No pool towels supplied. Hotel reception regarding this was rude.

Unit was clean but had no working phone or available electrical adapters.

Check-in was at the Hotel but they washed their hands of any requests or concerns.

The hotel was great. But we were staying at the Residencies..
If you’re staying at the Residencies, but want to hang around the hotel area/bars/restaurants then be prepared to feel like you’re an outsider..

After we checked in at the hotel reception we were taken by minibus to the Residencies. About a 5 minute drive around the edge of the resort where we’d stay for the next 3 nights..
At this point, the concierge never mentioned that the small pool we had was the only one we could use.. or that it was a 15 minute walk to the nearest shop. There was no transport from the hotel or the shop back to the apartment.. you’d have to lug your purchases on your back and walk it out in the 33 degree heat. Anyway.. I digress..

We got to the apartment door and the handle fell off.. (this was reported twice but never fixed) luckily you could get just enough purchase on the remaining rod to twist it open and lock..

Only a minor issue, but with 6 men staying in a 3 room apartment together the beds were so awkwardly close that if I rolled over in the night I’d be inappropriately touching my roomies sunburnt cheeks.. we moved them against the walls and left a small gap big enough to fall down in case this happened..

Another minor issue was no coat hangers and only enough shelving for 1 person per room. So my clothes mainly stayed in my bag and on the floor..

We stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. The room was never cleaned. The towels were never changed. We ran out of toilet roll which was never topped up.

When we used the hotel pool (which we assumed was part of the package) we were greeted by a lady dressed in black who took great pleasure in tell us that we all needed to pay 12 Euros each for the joy of using this pool.. which was empty..
We got out.

Service at the main bar was slow and when we asked to order we were always greeted with ‘en un minuto’ which usually turned into diez minutos before we asked again. Even then, there was never a smile.. as if because we were not dressed with a white hotel dressing gown we were not worth their time.

All these little things grated on our group a bit..

The golf courses we played were nearly faultless and we cannot fault the transport between courses and the airport

The hotel staff were lacking in service and rapport

Not sure we’d go back I’m afraid

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We take guest feedback seriously, and it is disconcerting to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Please know that our ultimate aim is that our guests feel even better than AT HOME In reference to the cleaning service, I would like to inform as you were explained at the check in time, the apartments tend to be cleaned every 7 days. These are tourist apartments and have different services than the hotel. However, you could have got all services in the apartments, by paying the extras fees. If I may I would like to recommend you for your hopefully next stay to book our outstanding hotel in order to provide you with all our services. With respect to the slow service at the main bar, it must be said that normally, the staff is distributed according the time of main crowd of clients. You will surely understand that we are absolutely interested in offering a fast and effective service, for improving our client’s satisfaction, which is our primary aim. We will work on the issues you addressed since our goal is to provide an experience that exceeds our guests´expectation. We are looking forward to have the chance to welcome you and to have you as our guests again Attentively yours, Martin Modica Public Relations Manager

Currently at the apartments, 2 x 1 bedroom apartments with my family

I have a villa on the resort for over 10 years so pretty familiar with it!

Check in at the hotel was fine, no issues

The apartments themselves are grubby, basic, and in need of complete overhaul

There is no cleaning service and each guest gets 1 bath and hand towel and you are expected to wash them and dry them

All furniture basic, outside furniture dated and poor

We had no main mirror in the bedroom and enquired at the hotel for one but that was a waste of time

The hotel is no longer an Intercontinental it’s a Senator, and the duo in service and standards is evident

Golf course is closed, and it’s burning to a crisp with no water or maintenance so overall the resort has certainly depreciated in standards in last couple of years

Sadly we will not be back to stay here in less there is a change in ownership and major investing the apartments and hotel because at £900 a week for a 1 bed apartment your hard earned money is best spent else where

PS. Broken sun beds and no umbrellas is the norm at the shared pool

Sad and very poor

Stayed in the Residence rather than the hotel as it gives you more option it had a shared pool that was quite while we were there i would definitely go again. You can have breakfast in the golf bar and in the evening we tended to go to the shamrock on the boulevard.

Thought a month in the sun would be great how wrong I was we were subjected to gangs of builders renovating buildings for the whole month from 8am (sometimes 7am) until 8 pm. No thought for anyone on holiday the owners apparently where aware of what was happening but chose to keep quiet as they were well away from it all. I have enquired since I have returned home to find it is still going on it was a terrible experience and I feel sorry for anyone who has booked accommodation already.
If you have booked a house you should be alright as it seems to be concentrated on apartment blocks and it going to happen to all of them on the resort. If you want a peaceful holiday don't go, you cant afford to play golf everyday to get away from it.
