The Kinsterna Hotel is a Byzantine-era rural mansion, which was lovingly and superbly restored with great respect to its long history. Moreover, the natural setting and the activities that took place in the past on the premises have been revived, so the mansion to be self-sufficient. Today Kinsterna produces its own wine, extra virgin olive oil, olives, tsipouro (a Greek spirit), bread, marmalade, soap, etc. Tucked away in the folds of the lush hillside, with privileged views of the Medieval Castle’s Rock of Monemvasia in Southern Peloponnese and the endless blue of the Aegean, offers unique rooms, atmospheric suites and autonomous residences and blends magically into the surrounding vineyards, timeless olive groves, imposing eucalyptuses, lofty cypresses, and the gardens with fresh vegetables and herbs, within an estate of 22 acres. Luxury Boutique Hotel of the Year, LTG European Awards 2017, Certificate of Excellence 2021, TripAdvisor, Certified by ‘The Green Key’, Mr & Mrs Smith

This hotel is a beautiful estate. No cost has been spared to transform this into a wonderful hotel in the midst of the gardens. My room was wonderful as well, a great mixture of old and new. Two great pools, activities, it has everything you expect from a great resort. The only problem I had is that one evening I had a beer with my dinner and they charged me 12 euro for that. I totally understand that a premium location comes with a surcharge on food and drinks. But if a glass of wine is 6 euro then a simple national beer (alfa, 30 cl) should not be 12 euro. I felt kind of cheated by that. Two days later I had the same beer in a restaurant in Nafplio and paid 2.50 euro, five times less!

We stayed at Kinsterna for 2 nights in Oct., 2022. Our room (H11) and the whole experience could not have been more gorgeous!! Our suite had a generous living room, kitchen (including a stove and oven!), hall bath, bedroom w/ king-sized bed and master bathroom w/ dual sinks, toilet and wet room w/ both shower and tub. Plus there was a jacuzzi on the front porch! The front porch was also a great size, had two chairs and a table, and was overall very private and secluded. The property was stunning. It felt like I had been invited to spend the weekend at a nobleman’s country retreat. 😉 The views are amazing, the gardens are abundant, the two swimming pools are pristine, and on and on. We had dinner there both nights and really enjoyed the service and atmosphere especially. One suggestion for improvement is that they could have some more variety with their vegetarian options. Another would be a bit more spice or flavor in their dishes... we both found our different entrees slightly bland, but still appetizing for sure. We were happy with the dinner entrees just not blown away. Breakfast, however, was fantastic!!! The buffet is lovely and has seemingly endless options. We both left breakfast very full and very happy. 😋 It isn’t too far from the old castle town of Monemvasia (a 5-10 minute car ride?) but too far to walk, in my opinion. You’ll want to drive or have a car pick you up. We had a rental car so that made it easy. The time of year when we were there was not super crowded so parking was also easy and plentiful. We found free parking with no problems at all. We also had spa treatments one evening and they were excellent. The spa facilities are so cool!!! I would say making some time for spa appointments is a must. For other activities, we didn’t personally take advantage of them (we went into Monemvasia on our own and that was our only full day there) but there were a plethora of Kinsterna curated experiences to choose from. It seems it would be good to be there on a Saturday, if possible, because they make pizza in their outdoor pizza ovens and I think there were some other things they mentioned are reserved for Saturdays. Overall, we are absolutely enamored with Kinsterna and cannot wait to go back!!

This was our second time at Kinsterna, after five years, and I was a little worried if Kinsterna was really as wonderful as I remembered it to be. Well, it was just as magical as the first time, peaceful and quiet, the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. The staff is incredibly friendly, we even got a free upgrade to a suite. And the breakfast is the best we had anywhere during our trip on the Peloponnes. We definitely will be back!

With total respect to the area, the style and the character of the original farmhouse, and the local tradition, this jewel stands in a not so frequented part of Greece, where one discovers that there is more to it than beautiful sandy beaches. A variety of room types and sizes to choose from, two beautiful pools with majestic views, and three top-notch restaurants, guarantee top-level pampering. There is everything you would like from a resort (bar, SPA, a small shop, and a number of activities to connect with the beauty of the surroundings. Very polite and helpful personnel, always smiling. Their locally produced wines are a revelation since the area was not very known for diverse types of grapes. Do try all three restaurants as they present different food styles.

The whole stay was nothing short of fantastic! The staff were all most accommodating. Every request was followed by“but of course”. The location was fantastic. You are in the hills surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The pools were refreshing and not at all crowded. Two adults booked originally but the place was so awesome we were able to book my other daughter, her partner and ten year old child. There was a separate child’s pool but she used the adult pool. The poolside bar had great food and drinks. We enjoyed the meals at the Mouries restaurant and once again the staff was attentive. The breakfasts were great with fresh honey just harvested one morning. We took part in soap making, grape picking and stomping the grapes. We all had spa treatments…excellent. The whole trip was well worth it. We would definitely return.

I heard a lot of positive comments before I book this hotel, from friends who have visited and recommended to us. What I saw when I arrived cannot be described in words. A wonderful mansion with awesome architecture and lovely gardens, vineyards and olive trees. Our room very beautiful with special decoration and attention to details. The service at a high level and especially in the restaurant thanks to Giannis and the chef with the wonderful dishes we enjoyed. The hotel also has a very nice pool for adults and a smaller one for children, although we didn't see any children there. I have never traveled in the mainland of Greece before, but I will come back again….and the only reason is Kinsterna. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Next stop to Mykonos and Santorini.

I had really been looking forward to our stay here but left disappointed. In fact, our family was so underwhelmed for a number of reasons that we decided to shorten our stay and go elsewhere. It started at check-in when we stepped into the reception area only to be told 'please wait outside' which felt quite rude to us. Then we were asked to fill in 4 (!) forms with our details even though the hotel should have had them already. Not a great start in making us feel welcome, and from that moment on I had a bad feeling. Cats are everywhere on this property, including apparently in some indoor common areas (I saw kittens in the lounge, staff didn't seem to mind), and around tables at meal times. As much as I love cats, I don't think that's appropriate for a five star hotel. Service generally is certainly not on five star level. We told staff that we were not happy with our rooms which felt very dark, but nobody ever came back to us, even if only to say that nothing else was available. And certainly there was no upgrade as claimed on the website when you book directly. We were also quite upset that there is no more private beach as was advertised in electronic information sent to us just a few days before our arrival. We were told that a 'natural disaster' had forced them to close it, without much of an apology. Upon our request we were pointed to a couple of public beaches close by but when we checked them out they were so unappealing that we decided against going there. We drove 1h and took the ferry to the Elafonissis island which has a wonderful beach. Overall this hotel is for you if you like quirky, historic places in a quiet, off-the-beaten track location and don't mind hit-and-miss service and lots of cats. Maybe with better management and more investment in staff this could be a glorious place. But right not it's not and we left disappointed.

Dear zurichgrad, Thank you very much for taking the time to comment your stay at Kinsterna Hotel. With regards to your not so positive overall comments, providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. As a teachable moment, we have shared your feedback with the management team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place to prevent the same issues from occurring in the future. Regarding your not so positive comment on our prices and the complimentary room upgrade request, kindly note that you stayed with us during our high season. Our hotel was fully booked with no availability or any upgrade options. We always recommend our guests to book the room type they wish to receive, especially when they are planning to visit us during the high season as upgrades are only given upon availability which is clearly stated on our website. In relation to your comment on our level of service, I have to say I am at a bit of a loss - we continually receive enthusiastic reviews from other guests about our warm hospitality - however as it is our firm wish to please our guests - we take note of your comments to improve wherever possible. As for your negative comment regarding the cats, we deeply apologise if you found it uncomfortable. We try our best to contain cats in a certain place of the estate where we feed them and take care of them in an effort to prevent them from being around guests that may not want them. However, we are working hard to rectify this and trust that although we are a pet friendly hotel we do not allow cats to go indoors. I trust we can look forward to welcoming you again at Kinsterna in the future and for you to have a more favourable view of your experience with us then. Kind regards, The management team of Kinsterna

I was a little worried at the 3 1/2 hor drive from Athens but wow was it worth every minute. The property, the staff, the gardens. So family friendly but not overrun with little kids. The activities were fantastic. The near by attractions of beaches and the castle made the entire experience perfect.

Amazing property in a good location with some excellent, but overstretched, staff. Very good breakfast buffet. Cute kittens but annoying wasps/hornets and some flies - yes, it's summer, Greece and the countryside so to be expected. Mouries restaurant food ok, service good if a little hectic at times. We did not eat at Lindos tavern or the premium restaurant. Activities good - e.g. bread making good fun for all the family. Adult pool good and bar service very good, kids pool a bit more hit and miss. Having walked around the whole property some of the residences and other spaces look amazing but our upgrade for booking through the hotel website unfortunately failed to happen. The prices also feel a little aggressive at times for what's delivered. The gym is adequate but with current Greek covid restrictions you need to book and it's limited to one group at a time. Beds are comfortable, rooms (in the historic part) generous and the design good. Check in a bit chaotic, check out was much smoother. Annoying muzak in all areas. We hope to go back in the future and fully support the concept but Christos Poulakis and his team have some work to do.
