Being located adjacent to the highway, this modest hotel is noisy, and its rooms are very basic and somewhat dark and damp. But no one comes here for the hotel, they come for the QUETZALS. The trees immediately behind the main building of the hotel are a species that quetzals loved. From 6 am until 7:30 am, we watched two...

This place is amazing all around! The people are super friendly. It's very quiet and quaint. Views of nature and the chance to see the quetzal! Super affordable and worth the drive from the city. Thx!!

We really enjoyed the nice hikes through the cloud forest to the couple waterfalls and especially all the orchids they had growing on the premises. We saw a quetzal and a few other nice birds and really relaxed while the great staff took care of us.

After years of repeatedly going to this part of Guatemala trying to see the elusive Quetzal, finally somebody told me that this was the place to go, and they were right! This is a small hotel/restaurant with a beautiful private nature reserve that is definitely worth visiting! Year-round they have Quetzals as visitors, and if you arrive in the wee...

Great family place to stay. Loved the site, staff is friendly and helps and guides you to see the birds in the area. We went to the river and enjoyed the walk. There are different orchids to watch and enjoy nature. Great place, neat and cozy. Recommended!

We stayed one night to do some hiking in the nearby forests and to see the quetzal. The rooms are simple, and clean. We were a family of five and the hotel prepared a room with extra beds to sleep all of us. The service was excellent, no complaints. The little restaurant served up food that pleased the whole family....

I stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend and was so happy we spotted a Quetzal the first morning. The guided tour was very good and the biotopo next door is well worth the visit. The restaurant food is very well done but choices are limited. It was great for the time I was there. The room was very...

This was a really nice park to visit. The price was reasonable (I think Q30 per person). We had a guide and were provided walking sticks. The hike was not at all difficult especially after hiking Semuc Champay the previous day! The scenery was beautiful and varied. The guide explained the various plants we saw and talked about how they...

From took the shuttle from Antigua to Coban and decided to stop on the way and spend the night so we could see a Quetzal. The room was clean. There is a hike from the site which is uphill and quite muddy. This place is in the cloud forest so it gets quite a bit of rain. Be prepared. There...

I really enjoyed my visit to Ranchitos. It's tucked in a quiet nature reserve, there are walking trails, clean, comfortable rooms (and hot showers) and a good restaurant. The staff was nice and helpful, and happily showed me the pair of quetzals that fortunately showed up when I arrived. It is a simple place that nature lovers would appreciate.
