We only booked one night at Barnsley House and we wish we had stayed for longer! It was an anniversary gift to each other and it was perfect. The house itself ( it does feel like a country house rather than a hotel) is beautiful with so many cosy rooms with open fires for you to enjoy tea or drinks,...

Everything you would expect from a luxury English country house hotel. The gardens are well looked after and the Spa with outdoor heated pool a pleasant surprise. The personnel are young and very friendly if a little too informal sometimes. The bar is cosy and restaurant simple but very good. Our room was pleasant and comfortable. We've stayed there twice...

Wow, beautiful building, amazing gardens with heritage and history. The staff were all attentive and helpful. This is a hotel with great food, reasonable prices and a Spa to relax. If you are in the area why not pop in for afternoon tea, I will return.

Everything was perfect! The surroundings, the amazing room in the stables, the staff, the food, the decoration and the relaxing gardens, even with the frost that was turning all in white. Just a perfect place to get away from the stressful life we have in cities, BRAVO to all the staff and management.

A fantastic place to stay. We had a lovely time here. It is everything you would want at wintertime. Roaring fires, nice food and rustic charm. The spa had a fantastic out door jaccuzi which we sat and drank wine in all afternoon, even though it was white over with frost in the fields. The staff are so friendly. We...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in December 2016, making a last-minute reservation. It was so lovely that we really wanted to extend our stay. We were in the main building on the top floor, room 6. It was beautifully designed with rustic wood beams, plenty of space for lounging, and a huge well-appointed bathroom. It was...

A fab place to hibernate in the dark and drizzling winter days. A huge collection of great dvd's to watch and even it's own 30 seater cinema. Great sound system in the room and can even continue watching in the bath.(Stable yard room). Frustrating that hot food is not served outside of restaurant open hours but the poached eggs at...

Impossible to fault: from the initial contact to final checkout, this is a truly wonderful place to spend time. The staff throughout the premises - receptionists, waiters, chef team, the cleaners - are so professional and courteous, the facilities are spotless, and the meal we had in The Potager restaurant on the night of our stay was sublime (two starters,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Barnsley House is your very own (fully staffed) country house set in extensive landscaped gardens near Cirencester in Gloucestershire. The Hotel has a dedicated spa, private cinema and 18 large and luxurious bedrooms to choose from. The Potager restaurant looks out to the gardens and is quite lovely. Sprigs of rosemary and linen napkins dress the tables with menus inspired from the Barnsley garden seasonal crops and local produce. If you tire of the daily home baked bread and crumbly shortbread biscuits with your afternoon tea, you can always nip across the road to our village pub. It's actually called 'The Village Pub' and delivers everything you want a village pub to deliver - open fires, papers, pints and delicious food! ... more   less
