We have wanted to visit Barnsley House for some time now as we are keen gardeners and wanted to see Rosemary Verey's garden. How disappointed we were to see it not looking at its best. Box not clipped, trees not shaped and pruned, roses not dead headed and weeds everywhere! We had to fight our way along the paths! The... More

As it was a lovely afternoon we called in for a cup of tea and to enjoy the surroundings. The afternoon tea came with scones jam clotted cream and a pot of tea plus a glass of Pimms. It was all delicious especially the Pimms the glass was brimful with fruit. The gardens were delightful although the chair cushions were... More

We dropped by for an afternoon tea on the way back from Bibury on Monday afternoon with children and teenagers. The staff were busy but very polite and friendly. We ordered a Pimms and afternoon tea, which had freshly made warm scones, soft sandwiches and lovely cakes (which we had to take away as they had bought too much for... More

Whisked away for a surprise weekend to Barnsley boutique manor house certainly was a relaxing treat. The hotel was cosy with a real sense of providing a very personal, homely touch to all their guests. Our stunning suite was spacious, with a lovely fresh, clean looking décor, The gardens were beautiful to walk around discovering lots of little hideaways including... More

I stayed here and although I was impressed with the spa and the hotel - the rooms were disappointing, especially considering the price. It was a lovely setting and the common areas were in good condition literally my only problem was our room looked a bit shabby. The Spa treatment was 5 star and the food excellent really can't complain... More

My Mum and I had a glorious spa day at Barnsley, I honestly cannot fault it. Lunch was delicious, service was spot on, the spa was glorious and the weather was beautiful. My Mum had a manicure and I opted for a full body Swedish massage, it was 55 minutes of heaven! Thank you Kim for such a fantastic treatment,... More

Rosemary Verey would be turning in her grave to see how the current owners of Barnsley House have treated her garden. The famous Knot Garden overgrown and misshapen, weeds growing out of box hedges and generally unkempt appearance. Such a shame as it used to be a real destination. It would seem the same can be said for the restaurant.... More

My wife and I booked in to the Secret Garden and restaurant. A real change to a standard hotel with our own private garden, sipping champagne! Made a trip over the road to The Village Pub which the hotel owns, then dinner in the restaurant. Well worth the money! Will be back.

My husband booked us here as a treat after we got married and we stayed in the Rosemary Verey suite. It was absolutely stunning, immaculately decorated and clean and we had our own private little garden. We ate in The Pottager resteraunt and we were even given a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate our recent wedding. Food wise, both... More

We visited when the garden was open for "Maggie's Centre" fundraising day. The talk by the Head Gardener was very interesting and this garden is maintained to very high standards. We also had an excellent afternoon tea. This is a truly lovely garden and all the staff are lovely too as were the people from Maggies.
