Special birthday meal for my partner, never been before, succumbed to the online menu choice particularly the fish choices. On arrival bar area nicely warm and heated by a roaring log fire, so far so good. Directed to our table in the restaurant and sat by a very cold window, had to keep coats on and after ordering had to... More

The Red Lion is the archetypal English country pub - right down to the roaring fire and boarder collie asleep in the bar when I visited! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and first-rate food and drink. Despite being close to the centre of the village, the room - located in an annex out the back - was quiet, clean, comfortable and... We stayed one night for a family reunion using 3 of the bedrooms, one being dog friendly. Everyone in our group thought the accommodation very comfortable. We have stayed before several times but not in the past 3 years and glad to say that little has changed in that we received a very friendly welcome and efficiency from staff throughout.... More

This nice pub with rooms are really worth all the positive reviews they have. Me and my husband stayed here for one night, enjoyed their craft beers and also had a very nice dinner in the restaurant. Both the pub and the restaurant was very busy with a good atmosphere. Our room was large and had everything we needed for... More

While hiking the Thames Path, we stayed in the Red Lion in Cricklade. It's on the path, and the combination of historic pub/inn and operating brewery had us intrigued. It didn't disappoint in any way. The old-fashioned pub has lots of atmosphere and was full have guests on Saturday night. Dining is available in a separate room as well as... More

Stayed here again and found it hard to fault. The room was fine; the bathroom clean with excellent facilities including lovely towels; beds were very comfy and it was so peaceful. Set in a quaint Anglo-Saxon town in beautiful countryside. Well-recommended.

We were visiting friends for their 60th birthday and were recommended this pub. With a beer festival in mid flow and a chance to sample the local (microbrewery on site), the pub was an excellent place to stay. The rooms were fantastic and although abutted the garden, once the door was closed, very little noise polluted the room. Definitively stay... More

The visit to this establishment was organised by the leader of our walking group as a destination for 12 of us after this weeks exertions. And what a very appropriate choice. 13 beers to choose from, a cracking menu, friendly efficient service.......What more could we have asked for!..........I will be going back on my own......the beers alone are worth it!!!
