We spent three nights here recently. The Gannet is located in an upper part of Carbis Bay, and has much to commend it, including ample parking, plenty of space, and a menu to satisfy the widest tastes. Our room was on the top floor, a huff and a puff up three flights of stairs, before opening into an attic room running the hotel's width. We'd asked for twin beds, so no doubt that is why we had been allocated the room, one advantage being the stunning views out over the bay to the waters and coastline beyond; one disadvantage, apart for the exercising stairs, was the slightly oppressive atmosphere despite having both windows, north and south, open... suppose it depends on the wind direction, but we weren't able to achieve air movement. I've mentioned the excellent, fulsome menu choices, the hotel and facilities were well maintained and spotless, and the staff were lovely and helpful. St Ives was already crowded on the 17th May, grand reopening after lockdown, and we were able to wander through the grounds of the Carbis Bay hotel, scene of frenetic last minute preparations for the G7 meeting. On enquiring about the cost of one of the newly-built beach chalets, we were informed that they were unavailable for £21,000 per week, but you could have an hotel prepared barbeque for a measly extra £1500! …
In a really nice location and not far from the beach, approx 10/15 min walk. Although the rooms looked nice online, we stayed in Seagrass and when we opened the door, we were shocked at the size of the room, it was much bigger than we anticipated and the beautiful decor and view. Everything in the room was spotless. Room did get really hot and there was no way to control this, but it was a sunny day and when we asked they provided us with a fan. We ate in the restaurant, which was delicious but it did take 30 mins to get our main course so service was definitely a bit slow.
Beautiful rooms amazing service we loved every moment we were there we shall definitely be back!! Food was amazing and well presented staff helpful and informative couldn’t do enough to help us one of our favourite trips
We had to wait until restrictions were lifted before we could stay at the Gannet Inn. But the wait was well worth it. The accommodation was lovely. The staff so friendly and welcoming. And the food was absolutely delicious at every meal. We cannot fault anything about our stay. We walked to St Ives from the hotel along the coastal path. Lovely walk but there are some steep inclines. We loved out stay here and we will definitely return. Thank you to all the team at the Gannet Inn.
We have stayed at the gannet for a week for our honeymoon. We really loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful and has a really feel to it. The staff our absolutely fantastic on reception and restaurant staff. Nothing is too much for the staff and everyone is really friendly. The food is out of this world, we loved the breakfast. We ate a couple of times in the restaurant and the food was amazing. The hotel is in a great location and we also had a massage in the salon which was so lovely and relaxing. We had a great stay/honeymoon and would definitely return.
