Wonderful hotel situated just outside of St Ives in Carbis Bay. We stayed for two nights for a pre Christmas treat having stayed at the hotel once before. The hotel is lovely, as are the rooms with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in! Very relaxed feel throughout the hotel with great service from all staff. Yummy cocktails can be enjoyed in the bar and delicious food in the restaurant. Great breakfast to set us up for the day. There’s a lovely coastal walk into St Ives to work off some of the calories. We were lucky enough to have a room upgrade during this stay which was very much appreciated. Can’t wait to come back soon, we have another two night stay booked but it’s looking very likely that we will have to rearrange due to covid. Would definitely recommend.
We were due to stay for one night on New Year’s Eve, but due to tier lives changing we were asked to come a day early..... oh yes.... upgrade to the best room..... The service from start to finish was exceptional.......... the food was amazing and they even had a good range of vegan meals which were the best I have tasted in a very long time......... breakfast was great with the waitress knowing and offering me vegan alternatives......... can strongly recommend and we will be visiting again..... thank you to all the staff under such difficult circumstances....... stay safe..... We booked our New Years stay at the Gannet Inn in August. 2 nights direct with the hotel and the final night via secret escapes. It was always hit and miss as to whether we would be able to go because of covid, however we checked the t&c’s on our bookings to make sure that if we did have another peak and were unable to go we could get a refund. Between booking the trip and now we had several phone calls with the hotel and the team were really helpful and friendly. The hotel look great and we were all excited to go! At the beginning of December when the second wave of covid was building up, our friends that we were due to be going away with went into tier 4 so would have been unable to make the trip. I called the hotel to double check the refund policy and they said it would be ok to get a refund if you’re unable to travel because of covid (as per the t&cs on their website). Our friends called the hotel and got a refund. We were still in tier 2 at this point. In the lead up to Christmas we were back and forth with the hotel re a potential cancellation and finally when it looked like we were going into Tier 4 also we emailed the hotel to formally cancel our reservation. On the 23rd December we were advised to email the reservations manager to discuss the cancellation / refund to which we didn’t receive a response. As it was the holiday period we didn’t pursue it and thought we will pick it back up after Christmas. Since Monday 27th Dec we had been trying to speak with somebody as the reservation was due to check in on 30th Dec. We were advised that the reservations manager was off until 29th Dec, so first thing on this date we tried to call but advised she was busy. We left messages twice and never received a call back. On the 30th I called again and left a message. I finally called again early afternoon to which I was advised that she was in a meeting for the next hour, the receptionist (at Carbis Bay hotel where the res manager is based) hung up on me. My partner called back literally 2 minutes later and spoke to the same receptionist and was put through to the res manager straight away. Initially she said we couldn’t have a refund but when I explained their cancellation policy and that our friends had received their refund she finally said we could have ours. We would have happily stayed at this hotel later in the year when we come to hopefully rebook the trip but after the service we have received I can safely say I will not be booking this hotel in the future.…
Whatever you do, do not recommend this restaurant or we will never get a table again! I am a fussy diner but came here for my birthday ( at 65 a mere stripling of a lad) and I have to say that the whole experience was excellent. First rate food, very good service ( no spotty teenager asking if everything was OK), very good decor done to a very high standard and even reasonable prices, although I was taken as a birthday treat. I shall be looking for another excuse to come here as this was an excellent experience and so watch out Steinville you have competition.
We called Christmas Eve afternoon on the off chance that they had any tables left! Helen on the phone was so polite and helpful and gave us a table at 7. We arrived early but that wasn’t a worry, we were well accommodated straight away, shown to our table and our drinks order was taken, the service was really good and all staff were so polite! The food was amazing, we had no faults what so ever! My boyfriend had a steak and I had the chicken kiev. We shared the starter of Camembert and it was delicious. The portion sizes were so generous and well worth the money you pay! 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Thank you for making Christmas Eve night, perfect!
