We book this room with extremely bad experience. Originally the booking policy was not clearly specifying that they do not allow child below 10. When we enter the hotel room, we got a shock. They said that they cannot let me check in because our seven - year -old . As cornwall is a overinflated tourist place, for that night there was not a single hotel available and we have to drive out of cornwall and had some very expensive last minute booking. I read from tripadvisor that I am not the only person who got this experience, some other people also got last minute cancellation. I think for such kind of uncivilized host with totally no humanity, one should avoid any booking with them any any cost. Another aspect is the uncivilization of Cornwall as an over popular tourist place, the wifi is extremely slow, very undeveloped countryside. The existence of such B&B with such rude host is surprising. We have been to many coutries with great sea views and much better weather, much friendly people. So if you plan a holiday at Cornwall, first of all, think of other places, a random seaside such as Santander in spain can compete with this. Secondly, please avoid booking with them as they are unreliable. We think they can always cancel your booking and get some last minute high price guests.

As the host of the bed and breakfast I feel that I must answer this review. We get up to 2000 people stay with us a year and most people when they book read on the site that we do not take children under the age of 10. Secondly the room you booked was only for two people, which you openly admitted you had changed the booking from one person to three at the last minute - without informing me. So you knew from the outset this was a booking we couldn’t honour and the problem was down to you. We gave you a full refund and some suggestions of where to stay, even though you continued to argue knowing you were in the wrong. This also left us with a room which had to fill at very short notice. I find the comments you have made about Cornwall are very untrue and you wouldn’t have been making this review if you hadn’t made a mistake with the booking. Please read the booking policy when booking another time. Regards Sharon

Our first stay in Cornwall & didn't disappoint! We arrived around 3pm parked our car on the drive. Sharon greeted us,we checked straight in & headed straight to the beautiful Carbis Bay beach to take full advantage of the glorious sunshine. B&B close to the beach & train station around 10min at the most down a steep hill not keen on the walk back up,all the hills in Cornwall were going back to Birmingham with more calf muscles than when we arrived. B&B beautifully presented inside & out. We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor, room nice & clean. Sharon left us a little pack on the bed, towels & hand sanitizer & wifi code etc... Bed was very comfortable 😌 we had a little terrace area with seating & ate my gluten free Fish & chips a couple of times from Becks Fish & Chip Shop which is a 2 min walk away. Location of the B&B was perfect to all the places we wanted to visit whilst there. Breakfast Sharon emailed me to find out our breakfast order, she catered to my gluten & dairy free intolerance. Breakfast was very nice & staff were friendly. Free WiFi was very fast & didn't have any problems with connection, better than my own at home. Checkout was contactless just drop your key in the box. Sharon you have a lovely home & I'm a little jealous you live in it & I don't Missing Cornwall already, will definitely recommend & would stay here again if we was to come back. Thank you for a pleasant stay 😊

Easy check-in, lovely clean and tidy room and a nice little B and B. Brekkie was really nice and the parking at the church was handy to have close. All staff were polite and friendly and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Really enjoyable trip!

This was our 1st trip to Cornwall and we struck very lucky staying here. We are a family of 3 and we were allocated room 2. This room was huge, with a large comfortable king sized bed and a single bed for our daughter. It had a Juliet balcony too- from which you could see the sea. It was spotlessly clean (and smelt amazing!) and the decor was calming and in keeping with a beach theme. We received plenty of information prior to arrival about the check in procedures and time etc - this was contact free because of the covid procedures in place. We found Sharon and her breakfast team friendly and welcoming. We emailed our breakfast order through the day before and this was checked each morning (before it was cooked) - all requests were catered for and the quality of the food was fantastic. The position of the B&B is great. A short (but steep) walk to the train station (3 mins and £1 to St Ives) and a bit longer again down a very steep hill, takes you to the beautiful beach of Carbis Bay. St Ives was very busy, and we found getting a reservation almost impossible for most restaurants as they are mainly booked up until September! We found walking to them about 5pm and asking again is very worth while (in case of cancellations) Watch out for the seagulls they are cheeky! Don’t hesitate to book to stay here - you won’t be disappointed! We will definitely stay again From Jo, Andy and Evie 😊

We stayed 2 nights at Downsfield B&B and had room 2. It is large room with an extra bed for a family. It has windows to the front and patio doors with a Juliet balcony to the rear. Although it is a busy road, it is quiet at night and no issues with sleeping. The bed is very comfortable and the room is full of Cornish pictures and is really well dressed. The bathroom is roomy and has a large shower, good lighting with a window. Breakfast is served in a lovely bright breakfast room and served to you by two young ladies. We were asked to choose what we would like full English or continental the night before, this was fine as I hate to see wasted food, however both days we were asked what we wanted to eat. On the first day breakfast was served efficiently although my breakfast arrived before I had finished my cereal. On the second day it was busier and we had to wait for a bowl and milk to be delivered to the table and again my breakfast came before I could eat my cereal. Brown sauce was bought to the table after my hubby had finished his breakfast. I find it sad that no local produce such as jams and preserves are championed and the same for toiletries in the room. Downsfield is beautifully decorated and very clean, it was a lovely place to stay and not far to get to other landmarks in this part of Cornwall and visit some NT properties. There was parking and this was important as parking is premium in this area. We had a great meal in St Ives but we booked this weeks ago, due to staycations it is very busy. Would recommend researching where you would like to eat and book in advance. Thank you Sharon for a lovely stay!
