Having just spent a week here,my partner is very ill suffering symptoms of food poisoning and I can honestly say this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!Both the a la carte and buffet cannot cook meat or fish properly and serve it cold and raw with visible blood still oozing from it.The drinks taste of a funny chemical substance and a drink from my mini bar had been tampered with so I discarded it down the drain.Areas of the resort absolutely reek of sewage and I’m sure all the staff are just blind to all the complaints we made.I am still waiting to hear from the Overall General Manager who seems to be elusive or is just not facing up to this debacle. The hotel caters for Spanish speakers/single travellers who are prioritised service wise over all who don’t have an olive skin. When I complained about the food to the so called head chef who couldn’t even understand basic English he was far too busy fist bumping Spanish speaking diners and having his photo taken with them.I can only assume Mexican and South American standards are a lot lower than my own!The only plus thing I must mention is that the gardens are immaculate so at least the gardeners are doing their jobs correctly.I really fear if decisive action is not taken with regards to health and hygiene standards then they will have more deaths on their hands. You can’t carry on ignoring issues that are making people ill so I strongly advise DO NOT GO HERE!!!

I think the property needs a lot of improvements such as no hot water in the shower also the bed being too hard and not comfortable to sleep in. I did not like the Wifi at all so slow and has no signal most of the time. I think the hotel app is pointless because most of the time did not work and is so slow. Their specialty restaurants have nothing special about it just averages and their food is to sample. They use plastic cups in the bar and buffet that they never clean well and smell like raw eggs. The QR code generated by their app was never used in any of the restaurant reservations. All staff members do not speak English which makes it hard to communicate. Their alcohol drinks have no alcohol at all, for example, ordering Margarita tastes like lemonade with no alcohol whatsoever. The buffet food is also the same with a few minor changes every day. Finally, the swimming pool water never gets change during the 7 days I stayed in. They did not have a good separation between smokers and non-smokers area.

We planned for our wedding dec 29th, 2020. After everything with Covid we had cancel. They require all guest to have their passport 6 months before traveling but since most US social security offices were closed that wasn’t an option for some of our guest. Also given the date of our wedding most of our guest would have had to quarantine 2 weeks prior to our wedding and 2 weeks after which meant 5 total weeks we would have had to ask our guest to quarantine and not work. It was just unreasonable and to top it off they didn’t even originally offer to us even postpone the wedding date and def didn’t offer us a refund for our rooms even though anyone who had purchased a non refundable room during those dates were granted a refund per their website. With the already troubling reputation of this hotel and the safety of its guest I guess it’s no surprise they don’t value the health and well being of their guest. Steer clear of this place

This was a fabulous place to stay. The staff were friendly and the hotel was very very clean, in beautiful kept grounds. I had one of my best holidays in this resort and would definitely use this hotel again. Europeans could really take some advice instead of extra charges on an all inclusive which is what I have found while staying in Cyprus, Turkey and Greece holiday resorts. This holiday included non motorized water sports hire for free, drinks in the fridge everyday restocked, Spanish lessons, gym sessions, pool activities, indoor activities all free. This was a very grown up holiday without any hassle or worry. This holiday was before the pandemic but still a fabulous holiday all the same.

A place with an excellent service and atmosphere, with dozens of helpful people, a main house with an astonishing architecture and beautiful surroundings and gardening, entertaining shows andnot to forget: -- the meals! Three meals a day – always overwhelming. Everything you could dream of you would be alble to find here. But: All meat, fish, pig or beef, is too well done to an european taste, too dry to be delicious and very often cold, having been on the buffet for a long time. But lots of salads, vegetables and deserts. And tasty spanish wine. The place is beautiful. For people loving beach and bathing it must be like heaven. For those that want to go somewhere in between – on their own hand – to see Santo Domingo f. ex., the capital of the Republic, and the place where Columbus more than 500 years ago put his foot on ”american” earth, it is like a prison. No public transport. The highway with overland-buses is not so far away, but there is no hotel-shuttle to a – now not existent – busstop. You can go on an organized tour, or hire a taxi for a day. But when you stay two or three weeks in a country you should have better posibilities to explore a little more than beach, buffet and bar in the place where you have booked -- without having to rent a car. Let us hope, that the days of corona soon will end, and that we then can return to and enjoy this remarkable place BAHIA PRINCIPE LA ROMANA and that – in the meantime – a way has been found for individual transportation
