Check in after 3pm, check out 12pm. There was a wait for our room which is tiring after travelling. Sea is cloudy not clear due to location near river. There are puffer fish near shoreline and jellyfish but didn't see latter. Large pool and beach area has plenty of loungers.
We had problem with room being opposite Bahia Bouganville who have very loud entertainment in their lobby. If you want to be asleep before 11pm ask for a quiet room not near there. I commented on the hotel feedback form and they did ask if we wanted to move room. I also told them about the shower head being very large and causing the water to leak onto floor. The next day they changed the head to a smaller size.
You should not use tap water to clean teeth, they leave plenty of bottled water in room.
3 speciality dining restaurants available to book online via app or at reception. You can only book 3x for 7 days stay. International buffet restaurant available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beach restaurant open at lunchtime. Apparently open too all night but we never saw it open then.
Evening entertainment available every evening from 9pm. Mainly in Spanish and pretty amateur performances. Circus outside was very impressive.
Excursions being sold in lobby area were cheaper than our TUI rep. We went on 1 to local caves, altos de chavron, chocolate factory, cigar factory. Very good value and enjoyable. Watch out if you want to pay by card. He displays price in $US but then converts price to Dominican peso. He didn't tell me he was going to do that which is a problem when I gave him a currency card with only $US. The price I paid worked out more due to conversion rate.

We had a smooth check in. The grounds and beach are lovely. The room was a good size with a stocked fridge that included water, sodas and beers. On arrival in our room there was a celebratory bottle of Cava and chocolates which was a thoughtful gesture.

Unfortunately the room and in particular the bathroom was very tired. The provided wash products are poor and unusable. The air conditioning was very loud and a distraction.

The Al la carte resturant is NOT Al la carte!

Main resturant had a wide variety of choices but the labelling of items was very misleading for example the labelled 'lentil Soup' actually has chucks of pork in it and, the labelled 'caramel icecream' contained nuts. The aforementioned are just two examples of many! I did bring the matter to the attention of a manager who I witnessed walking round with the chef and taking notes!

The entertainment team work hard but it's very mediocre and not worth watching or listening to.

Mosquitos were a problem and had to have room fumigated twice during our stay, despite having a mosquito plug in.

To end on a positive note we found all staff without exception to be polite, professional and friendly.

While the staff was above and beyond levels of cooperation and friendliness (thank you Tanya and Delbin at front desk), the ocean water was sadly muddy due to a river nearby and prone to jellyfish in some designated swimming areas more than others. Catalina Island, however, (you need to buy a trip) has clear water and excellent snorkeling where you can see starfish, coral and plenty of fish. The food by way of buffets, beach and poolside bars, and reservation-only restaurants was excellent and has something for everyone. The French & Fish restaurants and Brazilian steakhouse stood out among those options. The main buffet staff under William supervision works wonderful. Great friendly team. The gym opens early and is well stocked and in excellent condition, and people run up and down the beach early in the morning for exercise. There is a sauna. The on-site fine cigar shop specializing in La Aurora E. Leon, Montecristo, Cabao and Romeo y Julieta cigars also carries good quality cigarettes like American Spirit. The beer on tap is Presidente which should always be ordered with a lime. There is a plaza full of souvenirs and accessory shops and locals set up tables in the main lobby once a week or so. Mostly, points were taken off for the brownish-milky ocean water swimming area with jellyfish and how early activities end and the bars close (11pm). There was little to no nightlife past that time and no alcohol to be found. The upside is that it is actually quiet at night, and nothing affects the sleeping of other residents. The privacy curtains are easily accessible and function perfectly to prevent the bright sun from waking you up too early. Between the good food available at all hours and an overall trend towards quiet and hospitality, you will have an extremely relaxing stay here. This is a very family friendly environment and very relaxed. You will make the most of your vacation and actually relax without being bothered.

Dear Maris, Thank you for sharing such a detailed and thoughtful review of your recent stay with us. We’re delighted to hear that you found the staff, particularly Tanya and Delbin, to be exceptionally cooperative and friendly. Your kind words are much appreciated and will be shared with them. We’re glad that you enjoyed the variety and quality of the food, including the standout French, Fish, and Brazilian steakhouse restaurants. It’s also wonderful to know that you made use of our gym and sauna, and enjoyed the cigar shop and local shopping options. We do regret that the ocean water's clarity and the presence of jellyfish impacted your experience. We understand how these factors can affect the enjoyment of your beach time. On the positive side, we’re pleased you had a chance to visit Catalina Island and enjoy its clear waters and snorkeling opportunities. We appreciate your feedback on the early closing times of our bars and activities. We strive to balance a relaxing environment with a vibrant atmosphere and your comments will help us in this regard. Thank you once again for your insightful feedback. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming you back for another relaxing and enjoyable stay. Warm regards, Euromar Heyer Guest Relations

Extremely disappointed with our one-day pass at Bahia Principe. We purchased a one-day admission for two persons at a cost of 85 US dollars each. This allowed us to experience the resort from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We arrived at 11:03; the entry process was, to put it mildly, chaotic. You must first contact the resort and endure a wait of almost 30 minutes to converse with a representative. Upon your conversation with them, they will collect your information and inform the primary guards. Subsequently, you will obtain entrance to the resort. The situation deteriorated after our arrival. All areas and locations on the adult side were occupied. We subsequently choose to transition to the family section, which is OK; however, we incurred additional costs for the adult side. Upon arriving in the family section of the resort, we scarcely locate two chairs by the pool. All chairs were occupied in both the adult and family sections of the beach. I suggested we maximize our experience, so we remained near the family area and the pool when we desired to be on the beach. At the conclusion of our day, we retrieved our IDS, and I wanted to meet with a manager. He never approached us to converse, which was really disrespectful. I did not seek a refund; I merely wanted to inform the complex that improvements are necessary.

Our stay at the hotel was ultimately a delightful experience, characterized by warm hospitality and enjoyable moments, despite a few small challenges. While the front desk staff were less than helpful, our tour agency quickly stepped in to resolve any issues, ensuring a smooth vacation.

Accommodation
The rooms, though slightly dated, were clean and functional. We didn't spend much time in the room, which made any minor aging less noticeable. Pro tip: If you encounter any problems, it's best to contact your tour agency or the guest service supervisor directly.

Beach: The beach provides a pleasant and safe environment for swimming. While the water isn’t perfectly clear and has a slightly cloudy appearance, it is clean and free of any harmful marine life. Despite the lack of crystal-clear waters, the beach remains a great spot for relaxation and recreation. A special thanks to the staff for their dedication to cleaning the beach sand daily.

Dining and Service
The culinary experience was a h
satisfying, with food available even at midnight. The restaurant, bar staff (lobby, pool and beach bar) were exceptionally friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Special mentions go to the outstanding team members. Keep up the good
Work and stay positive.
- Genna
- Yeffrey
- Ennervira
- Franklin (lobby)
- Yefreise
- Arianna ( who was always hyper - in a good way 😂) excellente
- Waster (lobby bartender)
- Oscar (waiter)
-the bar tender at the beach bar
- Nikki Minaj ( Animation team) sorry didn’t note down your name but you know who you are
- there was also one guy from The animation Team( sorry forgot your name) , he is a very good dancer and also very friendly.
- The entire animation team
And our house keeping lady from

Conclusion
Despite small disappointments with the front desk, we had a great vacation. The hotel's warm staff, good food, and overall atmosphere more than compensated for the minor setbacks.

Please be aware that on arrival you will be told that this hotel only has the 1 pool and 1 main restaurant. However there is a sister hotel on the same site called the Bouganville which offers 6 restaurants and 5 pools but to use their facilities you will need to pay an extra $15pppn.
The site itself looks impressive with well maintained gardens and bright decor throughout. The staff were in abundance and approachable but be sure to tip the good ones as there is a tendency to favour other nationalities ahead of visitors from the UK.
The rooms really need updating as they are very basic with some having a poor water supply which meant trickling showers and slow running basin water. Food left a lot to be desired and not consistent throughout our 14 day stay. Food that was meant to be hot was cold and be careful when you leave your table for another course because they might just clear your table including your drinks. Spanish speaking visitors were greeted more pleasantly with the restaurant staff and were always served more promptly.
Be also aware that you have to deal with Timeshare/Privlege Club salespeople who are resident on site and are persistent to say the least.
Power cuts were common place and be prepared to be bitten frequently with the local insect community either by the pool or in your bed.
Entertainment was poor both outdoor and in the evening both of which should have been better.
This was supposed to be my partner’s special birthday holiday but it’s been our biggest disappointment to date. Probably a 3 star at best.
TUI personnel not helpful on arrival at the airport which was very intimidating with taxi drivers vying for your business.
On the plus side, apart from the rain, the weather was good.

We are absolutely delighted with our paradise experience. We were concerned after reading past reviews. The food and drink options were amazing, the weather was fabulous, the grounds are stunning, the service is outstanding, and the rooms are immaculate. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, both free of charge and at a cost. We are happy to spend our days lounging poolside or on the beach. 🏖🌴🍹✌️
Family side for couples is more than enough. We upgraded to black bands ($15/day per person); gives you access to Adult side pools/restaurants, not worth it in my mind. But the hubby wanted to eat at the Japanese restaurant, which was disappointing.
The Italian restaurant was not great (no flavor), but the French restaurant was delicious. Hubby said he had the best steak there.
Saw no mosquitos or jellyfish in February. Lots of sand wasps on the beach.
The water off the beach is cloudy but calm. It was beautiful and warmer than the pools. Take a tour to get your Caribbean blue experience.
Thursday evening there is a market that is set up in the lobby, great for souvenirs.
Tip in USD or DOP.
Bring your own larger cup as bar glasses are small. We brought 42 oz Yeti's and the fill lasted all day.
Bring ear plugs as the music's base is loud at night.
Pre arrange transportation from hotel/airport; we booked through Expedia.
Book excursion tours there at the lobby kiosk by buffet. I found it cheaper there than on-line (Expedia/hotel website/Get your guide). We did Saona and Catalina Island. Both beautiful. Catalina was more calm, no rocky beaches, less loud, and no vendors.
Another great resort to check out is Hilton La Romana.

Im on day 3 of my visit, yes mosquitos aplenty but its expected its the Dominican republic! Lots of locals at the weekend as advised, reception tried selling me the adult only next door for $20 a nite, but that hotel was £400 cheaper than what i paid a week b4 i flew!
Service at this hotel is shocking! This mornings breakfast i was only offered water, the table next to me was offered water, coffee and juice, tonite i had drank my drink the waiter proceeded to the table in front of me to top up their drinks, then to the table behind me and topped up their drinks and completely ignored the fact i didn’t have a drink, the common denominator, they spoke Spanish, i did not! They need to install self service dinks machines, then at least you would get a drink when ypu want one
Being a solo traveller the night time entertainment isnt my thing, especially as there isnt a waiter service and you have to keep going up to the bar every time you want a drink and leaving the table, i asked if i could get a bottle of wine so i could sit on my balcony with it (safest option travelling on your own) to be told NO, i did notice a sign that you could buy a bottle of gallo for $40 which is £7.50 in tesco but why would i want to do that when this is supposed to be a 24hr all inclusive
the Italian a la carte restaurant is fantastic, they allowed me to take my leftover food back to my room they even got a tip well worth a visit,
Room mini bar consists of 2 light beers 1 bottle of water 1 pepsi and 2 orange red rock drinks, great if u drink any of those! Ive actually drank leas here than i would of if i was at home

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback with us. We genuinely appreciate your insights, as they help us identify areas where we can improve. Firstly, we regret to hear that your experience with our service has not met your expectations, particularly in regard to the attention you received during meals. This is certainly not reflective of the level of service we strive to provide. We assure you that this matter will be addressed with our staff to ensure that all guests, regardless of language, receive the same attentive care. Your suggestion regarding self-service drink stations is also appreciated and will be taken into consideration. We understand your concerns as a solo traveler and apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of waiter service during the evening entertainment. We will look into this matter to find ways to better accommodate guests who may prefer a more relaxed and convenient service option, like the ability to enjoy a bottle of wine on your balcony. Your feedback is valuable, and we will review our offerings to ensure they align with the expectations of a 24-hour all-inclusive service. On a positive note, we’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the Italian à la carte restaurant and that the staff there provided you with great service. Your comments on the mini bar selection are also noted, and we will evaluate how we can improve the variety offered. Once again, we thank you for your feedback and deeply regret that we didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the exceptional experience you deserve. Juan Ortiz Guest Relations Department.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in my entire life. From the cockroaches in every single room to the inedible food being served in three different resteraunts on this resort. The tasteless slimey food had 0 nutrients and had gotten me and 6 of my friends sick, which is why we chose to risk our safety and leave the resort for the sole purpose of finding something to eat over the course of the next 5 days. When it came to the staff everyone was fake nice but would laugh at you in their language when you ask a genuine question. Everything is misleading, when we booked our excretions we were told it was minimum 45 minutes away but ended up being 2 hours both ways. The boat rides in which we paid $100 USD each for was a nightmare. Not only did we have to wake up early and still kiss breakfast we were stuffed onto a boat which was headed straight into a storm. Within an hour of cursing the rain started hammering onto us which promoted us to ask to go back due to safety reasons, the boat crew just laughed at us and continued to voyage forward to catalina island which was also getting hammered by rain. Once we got to the island we stayed under shelter until the rain stopped just to go back home. Definitely not worth $100 USD. There is 0 room service they will tell you to pretty much kick rocks for anything you ask for through reception, we could not even order a simple towel or water bottle to our room. The beach is completely filled with river water and is mucky brown which is not safe to swim in but there are 0 warning signs along the beach. If you want to so much as walk around the resort freely you cannot even do that without being asked to upgrade to a VIP wrist band which is not even worth it for one extra pool and a few beach seats. The water was really cold in the shower and the AC are out dated. This hotel is not a 5 star and shouldn’t even be a 1 star this establishment should be shut down.

Hotel is very good , impeccable cleanliness everywhere . Beautiful garden and swimming pool.
Check in and out fast.
Beautiful lobby with coffee bar ( coffee machine with choice of coffee )
The rooms are large and have been repainted (I went there 10 years ago) but there is a great lack of lights, especially in the bathroom for makeup. The water for the shower quickly becomes cold on the rush hour , one evening there was a lack of electricity 3 times so no water (but it returns quickly but unpleasant) The fridge was barely cold , it was replaced after 4 days of request ☹
Very nice beach to walk but the sea water is scrambled but less than 10 years ago.
Many palapas and chairs both on the beach and at the pool ,almost always available (it is written not to book them but many people do anyway ) Very beautiful palm grove but the sun appears around 10 o'clock for tanning.
Buffet restaurant very good , good service , lots of choices but still lukewarm (there is a small microwave). Orange juice looks like kool-aid. Almost always pizzas, hambers, hot dogs, fries. Stations for eggs , omelets , pasta , meat . Every night a special such a little suckling pig etc... Large selection of breads with 3 toasters at each meal. Like any overlit buffet restaurant in the evening.
The beach snack bar very good, good food choices. Pops shecles available all the time.
Lots of activities all day and evening. Beautiful shows.
Airport of La Romana 40 min, small , very nice not cluttered , 1 duty free shop , 2 restaurants including 1 very good pizzas (do not hesitate to warm it up , it is lukewarm) beautiful large outdoor terrace to wait .
