Totally recommended!!!! This is not only a hostal or hotel. This place is an entire experience with nature. They have various bungalows and little Adobe houses. Orlando and Alicia (the owners) are super interesting people with lot of information about nature, biology, history and of course info about the area. The place is in the middle of a natural reserve...

We took our 3 kids (8, 14, 11) and stayed in a private cabin. It is out of town but close enough to walk to. We explored the province of Loja. The highlight for the kids was swimming in the river and safely hiking the area. Alicia and Orlando (the owners) are welcoming and took good care of us.

We did a couple of the trails in the reserve and while we were there in winter, their dry season, it was still a lovely place for a walk through nature. It costs US$2 per person for entry, but if you want you can go there for 3 days. The proceeds go towards maintenance of the reserve. If you go...

Rumihuilco ecolodge is a very beautiful and well preserved ecoreserve, owned and maintained by Alicia and Orlando. They offer a lot of river and mountain paths with carefully listed names of trees and plants, as well as a wonderful and quiet place along the river where you even have your own beach. The wooden cabins are spacious and very well...

We stayed in the Riverside cabins for 4 nights. In the middle of the forest you go to sleep with nature and wake up with it. Own kitchen and bathroom. Simply wonderful placecto meditate or do some yoga. There are many walking trails on the property too. Even internet is available free of charge outside of the reception cabin. Do...

We thoroughly enjoy our stay at the Rumi Wilco Ecolodge. Surrounded by nature, the Ecolodge provided us with everything we needed - from a comfy bed to a very beautiful and well equipped kitchen. Being an Ecolodge there wasn't much in the way of electricity so things like internet and super hot showers aren't provided (which was expected). However, waking...

This Ecolodge was amazing, from our arrival until our departure. The owners stayed late for us and escorted us to our cabin, right along the river. We had hot water, all kitchen utensils necessary, and the sound of birds for an alarm in the morning. We hiked Ruta Trail 3, up towards the top of the mountain, at sunset: highly...

We stayed here for 3 nights and wish we could stay for a couple weeks! Very cool authentic Ecuadorian houses fully stocked so you can cook your own meals. They also grow, harvest, dry and roast their own coffee. Very smooth and flavorful. A short 1 mile hike from town, mostly along a river. Great hiking trails with amazing views....

“#7 with private kitchen (so basically 2 rooms inside) faces the lovely porch with hammock, sunny in the afteroon but bright all day. The pole cabanas looked lovely but are yet another 10 minute walk into the national park and a bit too expensive for our budget (though for sure are worth the money).”
