I came for two days and stayed for four. The grounds are beautiful. The variety on the menu is great. Seafood, steak, soups desserts wonderful. Breakfast great, juices amazing. The dog is still here but he didn't bother me. I felt cared for by the staff. The area in general has been hit hard by the economy so they have... More

Visited for one night on a birding tour. Would never stay here again. Staff seemed totally uninterested in us, and, frankly, unclear as to what to do. Mediocre dinner, served indifferently. We had to pay extra for a miserable early breakfast. Rooms were okay, but the windows had to remain shut due to lack of screens. Mosquitos plentiful. Large guard... More

Weekend road trip from Cuenca. While it's not walking distance from town, I really enjoyed the manicured grounds wild enough to attract many birds and butterflies. My room was spacious with nice architecture. On site restaurant was quite good, popular with locals too. I did not use spa services, but the Vilcabamba water worked well on me!

If you go to a Hosteria Vilcabamba, careful. The one I went to had a big, big dog , owned by the owners. It walked thru the resturaunt area drooling on the tables, later with the owner right there it attacked me. The food was some of the worst I have ever had. If a big dog is there I... More

Staff are very friendly and helpful! There are very friendly dogs wandering around owned by the Hosteria owners - so if you are allergic etc., please let the staff know and they will ensure you are 'dog free'! This restaurant has the BEST filet mignon I have ever had and I kid you not. It is excellent. Less than 8.00... More

We had a wonderful New Year dinner and were served with professional care. The grounds are lovely and the people who maintain them friendly and helpful. There is a bit of "old" Ecuador preserved in the traditions here and I find this very welcome and refreshing.

I arrived in Vilcabamba and proceded to Madre Tierra hotel, what a let down from the great reviews. First and foremost you need cash NO CREDIT CARDS EXCEPTED. The breakfast is weak small portions, roosters crow all night there and the rooms are very old and have many cracks, watch out for the bedbugs I got bit plenty of times... More

Got here for a long holliday. Since we got there, the crew of the hotel was very caring and nice. Felt in a small peace of paradise, the place is cozy, the facilities are very good taken care of and clean, the spa is very complete and the food, which is really atypical for the area, i think was actually... One of our very worst experiences on this place, which treated visitors like us like garbage.Owners don't give a damn. Their only interest, is to make easy money with our sacrificed U.S. tourists and our hard earned U.S. dollars. We flew from thousands of miles away to find this deplorable owned place with absolutely no customer service, no manners at... More
