Check in was quick and easy after finally finding the Premier Inn reception! Carpark is hidden behind the building but signage is poor. Was given 1 key card, slightly annoying as it's needed to turn the room lights on, so when I went downstairs for a cigarette my boyfriend was left in the dark. However, not a huge problem, we were told our room number and made our own way, there. Room seemed clean enough on first glance, but then we noticed a huge amount of cobwebs all over the ceiling. Not nice when you're an arachnophobe! The bathroom wasn't the cleanest, the shower tray looked like it was coming away from the wall and had a nice lot of black mould all around it too. After spending 6 hours travelling we wanted to shower, eat and sleep. The frist hurdle came when we only had 1 towel in the room, we had to go back down to reception to ask for another. Whilst in the shower it became apparent how slippery the tray is, and only then do I see the notice that says an anti slip bath mat can be acquired from reception (I don't think they'd have appreciated me going down there in that current state). We then found that the shower had an extensive leak from under the tray/plughole! I actually found this out at around 3am the next morning when stepping into the bathroom to use the toilet and straight into a puddle of water! Whilst on the subject of bathrooms, I'm glad I packed my own toilet roll as my a*se would be raw right now wiping it with the sandpaper premier Inn provides. On the plus side, the bed was very comfy and the air con worked well - also worked in drowning out the sound of some kind of generator/fan outside! Overall after paying over £300 for 4 nights I expect a little bit more! The brewers fayre next door was very poor, will leave a review seperate for that.

We had a great stay in this Premier Inn and it was absolutely perfect for our needs. It isn't a five star hotel, obviously, but the service we received was definitely five star. We arrived too early after a very long and tiring drive and were allowed to check in early. This was so welcome and set the tone for our visit, where everything was done to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The receptionist was exceptionally helpful and friendly and showed us to our room. She quickly brought us extra milk sachets when requested. The room itself was spacious, airy and light and the air conditioning was extremely effective and easy to control. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet at night, so we slept very well. The situation is ideal. You feel as if you have escaped from the hustle and bustle of London. We enjoyed some delightful walks on the common and in the forest. The breakfast was plentiful and good, with just enough variety and choice. Excellent coffee was freely available. Our previous experience of a London hotel (not a Premier Inn) was very poor, so this was a very welcome change and excellent experience.

Stayed here many times, and have probably reviewed before, but standards are dropping, and feel an update appropriate. Staying here these days more due to the lack of choice rather than and good reasons. The good, well, the location, close to train and bus connection, all of that Chingford has to offer, on the edge of the vast Epping Forest, so cant really fail there. The room is adequate, no complaints other than the air con, which seems to reset itself, not sure whether by design or fault? You do get noise, especially early morning as many depart early for one reason or another, some of whom don’t show much consideration (not the hotels fault). The bad, well, room not cleaned three times, two days on the trot, I had the “40 winks” sign up for privacy, however it seems unless you are out by around 10am when they are around, it doesn’t get done, I was mostly out early, but not always by 10am. This isn’t such a big deal for me as it may be for some others, but means if you require a fresh towel, or tea, coffee, milk, then you need to go to the front desk. On approaching front desk for more tea, coffee milk, I made known that my room hadn’t been cleaned “again” and that I needed tea, milk etc, my comment was met with a casual “never mind”! Well, it wasn’t a major complaint, but surely warranted a more sympathetic/concerned response than that! I only eat once in the restaurant, very much pub grub, there are many establishments in Chingford. If you used the bar area, you may need to call in a surgical team to remove any items you put on the table, I had to prise my phone away many times, never saw the tables cleaned once, maybe at night? Hope the restaurant tables are cleaned more often. Should you return after 10pm for a drink, some bar staff look at you as if the mad axe murderer is walking in! The place seems lacking in management in some areas, lacking in motivation, this isn’t a moan at all employees, most of whom were friendly enough. I don’t think it would take to much to put this right, would I stay again, probably, unless it gets worse.

We have had a really disappointing stay - with experiences ranging from bathroom that locked from inside so we couldn’t use, faulty air con which meant we couldn’t sleep in the room (but they still expected us to) to bad smells, smoke smells, rooms not cleaned and no clean towels and general poor service. There are so many nicer places to stay but it’s a real shame as location is great. Don’t waste your money though

Enjoyable enough stay, however, the room smelt of nicotine. Spraying with a fragrance did nothing to allieviate the problem - smell in the fabric of the room which needs a total make-over. As pensioners we were allocated rooms at the top of the building.........no sherpa's assigned to us !!
