Ormos is a picturesque place and those apartments are at the best spot, with an unlimited view to the whole Ormos and the sea! Very carefully cleaned daily which is a huge plus. The pool is awesome! Very very beautiful, with the breathtaking view and with perfect depths. Filio, the owner, is the best person! Warm hearted, kind, pleasant and helpful with great knowledge of Samos and her beauties!

Got a late deal with Sunvil last Wednesday and 24 hours later ,we were at Pavlis studios in Ormos .Traditional Greek place ,quite big with all you need for a self catering holiday. We had room 8 with the patio door opening up to a big swimming pool with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas ,overlooking the the bay of Marathokampos with the the boats ,the clear blue sea flanked by the mountain Kerkis. One can also see the island of Samiopoula in the distant from the studio.Well something one does not see these days is a Welcome pack which was there in the studio for us ,consisting of a bottle of water,a bottle of wine .a carton of orange juice as well as one of milk, sugar, tea, coffee ,a loaf of bread and a packet of biscuits.Warm welcome from Mr.Pavlis and a gem of a place.Would recommend this place for a quiet holiday with all facilities one need like restaurants ,shops nearby.

Got a late deal for last week July. The studio apartment (No 1) had all we needed for our stay as we eat out except for breakfast. The studio did face the road but still has great views across the town as well as the harbour. Air con worked well and we had no problem sleeping. The pool was large with plenty of sun beds, however it needs more sun shade/umbrellas. They have the structures in place for sun shades but only two were covered. A short walk from the studios is the harbour with half a dozen tavernas one supermarket and a good bakery. The beach was disappointing, but as others have said there are a couple of near by beaches which were fine. We hired a car for 4 days and liked Lemonas beach approx 25mins drive. Overall I would recommend these studios and would likely return.

Pavlis and his family have made a perfect spot for staying in Ormos. Best views of Ormos and if you are after something a little livlier, only 20 minutes walk to Votslakia. However - Ormos is by far much more charming with incredible tavernas. Back to the apartment! Larger than most Greek apartments - hob, fridge (with wine, milk, juice, butter... much more) as well as bread biscuits etc. Clean and enough towels and sheets for a week. Would 100% recommend and more than likely, be back again within the year. Thank you so much. Laura and Matt (room 8)

If you are looking for simple accommodation in a great position in the village, these are the studios to choose. On booking, we were disappointed to find that the rooms overlooking the pool had gone but after a few days at Pavlis we decided we preferred our room (No 6) which had views of the village, sea and the pool and was completely private which the newer ones were not. The kitchen was well equipped and included an electric kettle which is not always the case in Greece but the only cooking facilities were two electric hot plates, no grill or toaster which we would have preferred but it did mean that yoghurt and fruit was the order of the day first thing in the morning! There was also a hair-dryer and iron should you need them, as well as a safe and air-con (both of which payable to Mr Pavlis). Downsides were the studios were only cleaned and bins emptied twice a week and the beds which were extremely hard. Plenty of hot water, always sun beds and always peaceful around the pool (no children!) apart from the occasional irritating beep of mobile messages . . . Could not fault any of the tavernas in the village and would also recommend Christopetro – less than 10 minutes drive away towards Votsalakia (a very touristy resort – just the road running through with tavernas and bars (advertising football, English breakfasts and cocktails – horrid!). Would also recommend Psili Amonous beach – gently shelving sandy beach with one taverna/bar – you need to park on the side of the road and walk down the hill. We stayed the first two weeks in July and it was very hot – 32 degrees at 9.00am in the morning but it did get quite windy during the day so quite deceiving.

I agree with the high scores for the Pavlis studios at Ormos, only negative comment would the absence of comfortable seating inside. I recommend paying extra for the newer apartments as the view is amazing and they don’t face the road. Ormos was a splendid town, not totally surrendered to tourism, the local supermarket is superbly stocked and open all hours. There are plenty of walks along the sea front which is backed by olive groves and orchards of oranges, lemons and pomegranates. However the beach is stony making it difficult to swim. We found that the long sandy beach at Votsalakia far better, it’s about 15 mins from Pavlis, walking along the road. We also found the restaurants better there, ‘Nick the Greek’ highly recommended. There are two down sides of Ormos and Samos in general, firstly there is effectively no public transport from Ormos, Greek government cuts have reduced the bus service to one a day, the second is the flight, especially the return. Both the Meridana Fly (aka Small Planet), used by Sunvil, and Thompson flights serve both Samos and Lemnos, so you have to land, disembark and reboard in Lemnos on the return leg. Small Planet are Lithuanian and fly elderly 737s.

We have just returned from Ormos, we stayed in the Pavlis Studios what a fantastic place it's high up above the village so the views were astounding we stayed in the studios facing the pool studio 7 ,so we not only had great all round views but we didn't have far to go for a swim .Every evening Mr Pavlis was there to make sure the pool was kept spotless and clean .The Village itself was wonderful and very peaceful and not busy at all some days only 4 couples on the water front .All the tavernas were really good, and all served traditional Greek food .On the harbour side there were 2 boats that took you out further round the coast for swimming and lunch on the boat it cost 29 euroes but it was a great day out setting off at 10 ish and back at 6 30 ish I really can recommend this trip . All in all we had a great time and would go back .The only thing is August is the windy month and can be very strong .it does keep the heat down which helps when sun bathing .We didn't do any trips we were happy to stay in ormos ,most of the time though we did catch the bus that took to 2 other beaches ,but if you go on the bus there is only 2 a day one at 10-30 from Ormos and returned at 5-15 in the evening. The cost was cheap costing 3 euroes for 2 of us each way.

Returned last night from these studios after 1 week with Sunvil. The previous reports are very much in line with our own views. Ormos is the harbour village of Marathokampos, a bigger village in the hills above. Its a traditional Greek fishing village and tourists were thin on the ground. Pavlis is in a stunning location and most of the time it was not windy, but when it was, it was breezy ! We were in one of the older, smaller studios which we actually preferred. The balcony was completely private and the views unbeatable. They are however overlooking the road up from the village which is not busy but as in most of Greece at weekends suffers noisy bikes zipping up the hill. All tavernas were excellent. Our favourite was Lekatis but for fish the very last one heading east(sorry the name escapes me) was cheapest by far. This village has a lot of cats and it was good to see that they were generally in good condition. Kate the Sunvil rep lives nearby in Votsalakia which is known as Kambos on maps, she is very well informed. There are no ATM's in Ormos. The one supermarket is excellent. Its open all year and well used by locals so prices are good too. Not many boat trips available and due to new taxes many boats laid up. We wanted to visit Fourni Is. but not enough tourists to make it viable. We did do the trip to Samiopoula, good day out inc. lunch 35e. We have only one negative comment. The paper bin in the loo was emptied only once during our stay. Overall very pleased with the Pavlis, many repeat clients here inc. ex Laskarina guests, clearly a high level of customer satisfaction.

We stayed here 15th-29th September 2011 and absolutely loved the Studio complex. It is situated on the headland with amazing views out to sea - think Mama Mia! We had one of the original 6 studios which faced south-east overlooking Mount Kerkis, Ormos village and harbour - a wonderful view when enjoying breakfast on the patio. The four front studios are newer, sea facing and available at a supplement, as is the room safe and air-con.The rooms are the normal Greek basic type but kept perfectly clean by Pavlis and his staff - the welcome hamper supplied by Sunvil had a good selection of items which meant that you didn't have to dash off to the shops on arrival. The pool is a very good size with adequate sunbeds and Parasols but there is no pool bar which wasn't a problem for us. There is a good supply of reading books in the Studios office if you happen to run out! Ormos itself is only a 5minute walk away either by road or by taking a short cut down the 50 steps just below the Pavlis which brings you right out by the harbour and the amazingly well stocked Supermarket. Ormos is delightful and feels traditionally Greek. There are two bakeries, a couple of gift shops, a couple of bars and 6 or 7 small Tavernas by the quayside - our favourites were Lefkatis and Angelas (just past the large" Anchor" at the far jetty) marvellous food and cooked fresh daily. The beach here is made up of large pebbles with a few sunbeds and parasols. Votsalakia is situated in the next bay along and is a 20-30 minute walk from Pavlis and has a lovely 2km stretch of sandy beach - ideal for families with young children, plenty of sunbeds /parasols to be had at 5Euros a pair but often if you went and bought a drink from the owners bar first you got them for free. There isn't a real center to the Town as its just the one road behind the beach but there is a good selection of gift shops and I believe over 40 places to eat, our favourites being "Nick the Greek" where we had an amazing Mezze and "Christopetro" which luckily for us was only a 10minute walk away from the Pavlis studios on the way into Votsalakia . Buses are very limited in this area so car hire is essential if you want to explore the other areas on Samos but we decided to just stay local and spent a lot of time walking the trails up to Marathokampos, the Water Reservoir and in the surrounding hills (leaflets available from the Sunvil Rep) We flew with Tor-air which I believe is no longer in businss and that I can believe as the planes appeared so old but the Flight Crew were excellant as was the Sunvil Rep Kate who was very knowledgable about Samos and very helpful. Would we return to the Pavlis - Yes, without hesitation but would choose the beginning of the month as things were beginning to close for the end of season!

I have never written a Trip Advisor review before, but with the limited number of reviews on this great place, and after having a truly great holiday here I felt it was my duty to tell the world how wonderful this place is! We are a young couple of 28 and 36, and when we were choosing our holiday, it was kind of a last minute thing. We booked a week before leaving and didnt really have time to be too choosy. Being our 4th holiday of the year, we just wanted a lastminute deal to a lovely place to relax and chillout....and we were not disappointed! When we arrived at Pavlis Studios, we were greated by Pavlis's daughter who showed us into our studio. We had asked our travel agent to guarantee us a top floor front facing room. There are two small blocks at Pavlis, one older block of 6 studios (3 on the ground floor, 3 on top), and a newer block of 4 rooms (2 ground and 2 top). The older block faces East and has views of the island and the harbour. The new block faces South and has 180 degree views of the village, harbour, sea and mountains. In our opinion, it is definitly worth the extra money to have the new studios, as you get a panoramic view and overlook the lovely pool too! (picture attached) You recieve a welcome pack which was just what we needed. It included a bottle of wine, bread, butter, fruit, milk, tea and coffee, sugar, biscuits and washing up liquid. A lovely touch! The Studios themselves were pretty basic, but arnt all Greek islands. But there was everything we could need. A spacious bedroom, cute little kitchen, bathroom and AMAZING balcony. The pool was just perfect, medium sized, and usually only us using it everyday. And how brilliant to be in a lovely pool, and also have the outstanding views of the sea and mountains - best of both worlds! The location of the studios was also ideal, with only a 3-5 min walk down some steps (prob not suitable for oldies or the unfit) into the beautiful fishing village of Ormos. This is what I think the true Greece is like, with very few tourists to spoil the lovely chilled atmosphere The pool was cleaned every other day, and the rooms cleaned twice in the week. Pavlis Studios are in the village of Ormos, which is a traditional village of 200 people. Sometimes it is quoted as being in Marathocampos. It is not. That is a village up in the mountains. Nor is it near to Votsolakia, which is a good 30 mins to the centre (but that town was actually a bit too touristy for us anyway) I would not reccomend Ormos, or Pavlis studios for anyone who is looking for nightlife. This is a quiet fishing village with 4-5 resturants, 2 small bars, a couple of souvenir shops, a bakery and a small supermarket....and thats it! But for someone who wants to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery, explore a beautiful island and soak up the sun, this is the place to be! (we toured the island on a quad bike, and visited alot of other towns.... Ormos is definitly the most picturesque) If I was pushed for a negative, the only thing I would comment on is the wind. I didnt know how windy the island would be as I hadnt read that on any reviews, and I mean it was pretty crazy winds at times. However, for us this was good as it took the edge off the heat, making 'all day' sunbathing easier....Hee Hee! But we did talk to a local guy and he said July didnt have any winds, but August was definitly making up for it! All in all it was a perfect break for us! We highly reccomend Pavlis! Emily and Paul
