We are a high quality 3- stars hotel in one of the most beautiful parts of the Crete island. Discover the "Gate" of Western Crete. The small town of Kissamos is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, interesting hiking trails, Caribbean beaches, authentic villages and countless olive groves and vineyards. It is known for its authentic atmosphere, for the tranquility and beautiful nature that surrounds the city and for the three most beautiful beaches of the island (Balos, Falassarna, Elafonissi) in the immediate vicinity. The small, authentic Hermes Hotel is partially renovated and has 35 rooms (27 doubles / 8 triples) on 4 floors as well as an apartment. On the ground floor there is the bright and friendly lobby with reception, satellite TV corner, Wi-Fi (free in the entire hotel), non-smoking restaurant and an outdoor terrace. In the quiet and cozy garden area there is a pool and a separate children's pool, sun beds and umbrellas (free of charge) and the pool bar.

We just spent a week at the Hermes hotel and I must say that overall it was not bad, let's say that there are strong points and points definitely improveable.
Let's start with the positives.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff in reception and on that there is no question.
The breakfast is very good and varied, although there is a negative note... in full moments they can not keep up with the refills of food and especially plates, glasses and cups, often missing.
Another negative note, it would take two automatic coffee machines, or at least one more efficient (the current one needs continuous maintenance and the queues to make a coffee are miles).
We move on to the room, basic but clean and equipped with everything you need (we found ourselves without the drying rack, but they apologized and the next day they immediately got it for us.
Now the out of tune notes.
Parking undersized to the number of guests and so many people often found themselves forced to park in the street (which is not the best being all rented cars).
Wifi non-existent, never worked in any location of the hotel.
Air conditioner to change because it barely did its duty set at 20 degrees in penguin mode.
Bed cushion, and this unfortunately is a frequent problem in Greece, too light and practically non-existent.
I am overall satisfied with the stay but do not think we would stay there a second time.

Excellent hotel with strategic location.
The staff is welcoming and very kind, ready to give you tips on what to see, where to eat, and if necessary, to book some services for you. In front of the hotel there is the beach and the town center is a few minutes' walk away.
A 15-20 minute drive takes you to Falasarna and about an hour to Elafonissi.
The breakfast buffet is truly excellent, offering both the classic sweet and savory selection and some typical dishes.
The cleanliness of the rooms is very good and they are redone every day.
Having stayed in mid-September, we always found a place in the hotel car park.
We had a great time

The receptionist Yannis was extremely welcoming, accommodating and gave great tips. Exactly should be an employee.
Breakfast was really good and varied.
Location well on the edge of Kissamos so you could easily reach the center on foot.
Extremely fluffy towels.

The hotel seemed to have very few guests. The pool bar was closed, the entire pool area dirty and the loungers in poor condition.

The bed itself was very comfortable and fresh, however the toilet lid had a crack and the door frame in the bathroom was only hanging on a nail.
The towel rail on the balcony was broken and torn out of the wall.
I was only there one night in transit, but it is a great pity about the hotel. You could definitely make more of it.

Booked for seven nights through an agency (from 6 to 13/9/2023). We arrived at 10pm and the receptionist immediately behaved very rudely. We had booked (at the beginning of July...) a triple room (we have a 7 year old girl), but it was not available. He gave us a double room saying that since the child was 7 years old we could also sleep in a double bed. After several complaints, he put us in a service room (triple...) which was dilapidated (leaks, broken fridge, various leaks in the bathroom). Next morning same thing with another receptionist. We managed to have "our" room on the 4th day (out of 7...). The only positive note: a lady at the reception seen for two mornings: helpful and polite. Acceptable breakfast. Bad wifi. Comfort and services in general: 2 stars. First experience in Crete. Stunning island, hotel to forget. We will return to Crete, definitely never to the Hermes.

Let me start by saying that we had booked a triple room but upon arrival the third bed had not been made up and only after two days they did it!! The hotel is really poorly maintained, especially the outdoor spaces and the pool area, with old deckchairs and umbrellas (2 in total), an unkept lawn, and a children's pool reduced to a pond.
The rooms are not perfectly maintained but they are comfortable and are cleaned randomly, but if you ask at the reception, the cleaning is carried out.
The staff is not as present as it should be and sometimes unprofessional: upon arrival, in addition to not having prepared the third bed, they made us wait to check in because the guy at the reception was busy arguing on the phone about a fault in the hotel and instead at check out, they invited us to go out before the scheduled time because they always had to fix a fault (they wanted us to go out at 8 instead of midday, but we insisted and went out by 10). The breakfast is normal, quite varied but here too, more could be done.
Basically, they could really improve a lot and with a little effort: more care of the pool area, more staff (it is clear that they are undersized) and staff who are sometimes not very present. Very cheap for sure but I wouldn't go back.

Great holiday, Robert the manager is a gem. In very difficult circumstances he managed to make our holiday brilliant, With a much reduced staff he was jack of all trades. We knew the holiday wouldn’t be as normal but the food was wonderful and we only had to ask for room cleaning and towel changing and it would be done. We had the pool to ourselves as most people went to the beach. A most enjoyable stay. Thank you Robert.

My friends and I loved our stay, the breakfast was up to standard, as were the room and the pool area. It’s was a very enjoyable stay thanks to the friendly stuff, especially Kiki who works at reception, who went over and beyond to make sure our stay was an unforgettable one. Highly recommend.

Hotel Hermes *** , situated in the city of Kissamos, the western part of the island. Very lovely hotel with extramally attentive staff (Stefania) who made our stay a haven on earth and cared for every wish we had. The food was excellent! Wide variety of local foods that will make one ignore his/her diet :-). The hotel is cosy and very clean. We had a room with a balcony and a view on a pool, very very nice.
The area is surrounded by taverns with exqusite seafood and supermarkets nearby.

Definitely a place worth visiting!

Poor hotel , noisy and uncomfortable rooms , poor cleanliness , located on a busy road cut . Don't go there. The only positive note is the breakfast, very good, run by a very kind French lady. Poor quality linen , towels that look like sandpaper , friendly reception staff .. but not enough they should redo the hotel .. not to mention the bathrooms!!!

A very pleasant two weeks in this hotel. Excellent for the beach based quite holiday. Good bus service if you want to go the 40 kilometres to Chania. Otherwise to travel, a rental car I presume is essential.
Comfortable beds and good shower room.
Good choices for breakfast.
Friendly and helpful staff.
