We were made very welcome in the pub, which served an excellent pint of Old Speckled Hen. The pub is charmingly olde worlde and the hosts are very pleasant and friendly. We ate there last night and the food was excellent. Rare steak was served rare and the monkfish was really tasty. Unusual veg in the form of kale, green... More

Had a meal here while we stayed at Gardenstown, when we booked it I was asked if anyone in the party was vegetarian, which was nice to know they cater for Vegetarians. When we got there we were seated in a small dining room, cosy is the word, we told they had prepared a vegetarian meal especially, as there is... More

Lynn and Dave were very Welcoming! They were a warm and welcoming hug after a long trip north. We did a lot of sight seeing but always ended our day at the Garden arms. I looked forward to their pub at the end of many long days. We enjoyed trivia night and cocktails night...big shout out to Claire who made... More

The pub and restaurant are part of the Hotel - which is being modernized. The oub is in top shape and over 300 years old. It has a charming character, wood beam ceiling, cozy and freindly atmosphere. A great selection of beers and Scotch - we tried them all! Dave and Lynn the proprietors were amazing - truly special people!... More

6 of us on a cycle tour went for a meal at this hotel on 10th June in the evening and were certainly not disappointed. The landlord and landlady were keen to get us a table despite our relatively late entry. In the meantime we had a nice pint of beer in the bar which was cosy and very atmospheric.... More

My family and I stayed in Gardenstown for a week in June 2016, all 18 of us. We quickly discovered the local Gardenstown Arms Hotel, since it is the only pub in town, and was literally across the street from the house we were renting. Dave and Lynne are excellent hosts and immediately made our family very welcome, as did... More

We were staying in Gardenstown, so had to sample the pub. NB: it's closed Tuesday & doesn't serve food on Wednesday. We went on Wednesday, & received an excellent welcome. No food (except a couple of packets of Scampi Fries, which is, to be fair, the food of the gods), but a great range of ales & whiskies, & a... More

We ate twice at the Garden Arms hotel, and the food was great and the portions were generous. We visited the pub several evenings. The pub itself is an interesting old building and our hosts were great, gave us lots of travel information. We met lots of great people there, it is a real community center.

Warm welcome from Dave and Lynn whom after a short while and a little bit of feeling sorry for us for not booking, fitted us in prior to evenings reservations. Good home cooked food and good atmosphere at good prices. Would be cracking in the winter to spend evening with real fire on! Would recommend and return.

Stayed in Gardenstown for a week and went to the pub most evenings for a wee drink. We ate there on the first night and the meal was outstanding. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the food was 1st class. Very reasonably priced too. It's a lovely 'olde worldly' pub with a fine collection of local arts and crafts... More
