My partner and I stayed here for one night and we loved our stay. When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lady at reception who told us where our rooms was and advised us that they stopped serving food in 30minutes. The food was good and large portions, I had the lasagne and my partner had the steak.... More

Stayed at the Haweswater Hotel for 4 nights in Lakeside Loft Suite - room was excellent, spacious and well furnished with great views across Haweswater. Everything about our stay was excellent - especially the welcoming and extremely hardworking staff who were really efficient. All meals, including packed lunches for long walks on the nearby fells, were very good - the... More

Stayed for one night on way to Scotland. Lovely setting for the hotel overlooking the lake. Had the High St Suite with a balcony and lake views. Room clean and comfortable although mattress a little firm for my liking. Sitting outside on the veranda drinking a beer in the evening with red squirrels running around at your feet and looking... Breathtaking Art Deco hotel facing the Haweswater reservoir. The amazing lake-facing room is just what we needed after the excruciating five-hour drive from London. The reservoir, along its controversial history, is utterly majestic. The scenery outside the hotel is divine, rain or shine. This is a perfect, relaxing hideaway. The staff are accommodating and friendly. There's no mobile phone reception... More

Like stepping back in time, very interesting hotel, art deco, a bit shabby in places, you will see damp patches & peeling paint on most of the ceilings although it has been done up. Our room was adequate, clean & comfortable, we had our dog with us so no lake view, smaller room at the back, the bed was huge... More

If you are looking to step back in time, then this is the place. The hotel looks very Art Deco and offers a very stress less environment. There is limited phone signal which is fantastic if you are trying to relax from work. The hotel is situated overlooking the reservoir and the wildlife is amazing. On our balcony we could... More

This is an incredibly interesting hotel. Haweswater was one of the Lake District lakes, but in the thirties was turned into a reservoir to supply water to Manchester and elsewhere. The water level of the lake rose 100 feet, submerging the town of Mardale. The town's inhabitants had to move. Mardale had a hotel, and this hotel was built sort... More

We fist visited this hotel about nine years ago and it has since been done up. They are currently upgrading the rooms again and we got a sneak peek, and all I can say is that we will definitely be coming back. We brought our very large dog along and he was treated like a prince, treats and lots of... More

Very upscale hotel with great views, great rooms, great food, great wine. Really cool old style (however is very new) hotel. Neat pub. Had a jacuzzi with a tv in my bathroom. Not too expensive. Staff is friendly but unorganized when handling big groups. Don't let this scare you away, just check your bill as their accounting of food/drinks throuout... More
