It’s terrible, false advertising, don’t risk it. These people cannot be trusted, they didn’t give us what we booked and paid for, they make you pay everything upfront and try to force you into paying more to upgrade. They refused to refund us, and we weren’t prepared to be forced into staying there so we walked away, won’t be long until they go broke or get shut down.

I loved our stay at Hotel Azúcar, the staff was amazing especially Max. The food is very tasty and fresh. The rooms are spacious and clean, great functioning A/C and your own hammock in the outside seating space. They close the restaurant at 8:30pm so be sure to call ahead if you’ll arrive afterwards and would like to have dinner. It was a great weekend.

The hotel itself is quite nice and the staff in general helpful. The restaurant menu is very limited and not spectacular. Veracruz has amazing cuisine and the hotel owner should look into promoting local gastronomy and re-doing the menu. The menu is nothing special and this needs attention, as well as training in restaurant service. The hotel is right on the beach, nice beach but small pool. Seems to be for young couples. Rooms are fine, but bathrooms could use some painting and updating because they're a bit dark. Overall nice hotel and beach front access. Again, food is average.

No taste in the meals, too expensive for so less flavour! Not so much to choose in every meal, poor variety. Crowded of milleanials. Concept is minimalist. Your meals are served in old style pottery. The beach is small and located in front of heavy tide.

The rooms are spacious. A little more room for the clothes would be appreciated. The hammoc on the terrace is great! The back door shower is a great idea so you don't bring sand to the room! This hotel is not for underage children. It is well appreciated to be relaxed and quiet. It could be more handicap friendly. Overall it is a great place to stay and get your money's worth.

Hotel Azucar was a lucky find. It was recommended for a wedding I attended in the area and was the cheaper alternative to Maison Couturier (which is not seaside, but is also an amazing option). Both are mentioned in The Design Hotels Book. Azucar is made up of palm-leaf roofed, white bungalows with direct access to the beach. I stayed in an independent bungalow surrounded by beautiful landscaping with its own patio and hammock, although there were two story bungalows that appeared to have two units. The room was a modern stark white, spacious and simple. It had an outdoor shower to wash off in that led directly into the interior shower. Honestly I spent little to no time in my bungalow and all my time at the hotel in the pool. The white pool deck, with a view of the beach, slopes directly into the white pool, optimal for sun tanning. It’s bright so bring your darkest sunglasses. Around the pool are a few covered cabanas for shade, the bar, and a deck overlooking the beach. It was a short trip and I saw nothing of the local town, but it was an amazing getaway lounging, ordering poolside drinks and grilled octopus (all reasonably priced). While the location is a bit difficult to get to, as there is no close local airport, I would definitely consider going back just to lounge by that pool again.

the hotel is away from almost every big city. You have the beach right next to the pool, good, really good food, rooms are all white, comfortable beds and inside and outside showers. Wifi is bad, but if you want to have a relaxing time, this is the hotel.

This chic spot is very beautiful and relaxing. They have taken an aesthetic approach enhancing the location. You feel instantly as if you are in a quiet zone. I was taken by the architectural aspects. The downside is that they only have pillows for sitting which can be difficult for older people needing more comfort. Chairs were at a premium. Updates are needed as it is in a tropical zone. I think they ought to stay on top of mold, insect infestation and general upkeep if they wish to stay at the top. We are world travelers and know what makes a place first class. Food is okay. More variety would be good and less expensive wine. It was relaxing but not the best.

This hotel sits amid many many many more hotels side by side on the so called costa Esmeralda on the Gulf of Mexico's coast. I never went inside any of the other hotels but this one for one had a nicer entrance! The rooms are confortable but minimal very basic. Instead of two lamps by the bed you get two votive candles very romantic. No door for the washbasin and closet. A door for the wc and shower made out of translucent fiberglass. There is astonishly a tv. All caters to a wonderful beach culture with a very spacious terrace and even an outdoor shower. There is one outdoor, thatched roof covered restaurant with very local excellent fare. A good sized swimming pool with lots of cushions and lovely spots to sunbathe. A good choice among many others. The staff is just unbelievably nice and helpful.
