In April 2016 I stayed at the allan ramsay and it was great. I stopped in the apartment next door to the pub restaurant which had three double bedrooms (one with en suite ). The apartment was clean tidy and comfortable. The evening meal was fantastic ( I highly recommend the trout starter and the lamb main) and the staff... More

Arriving at 08.30, looking like tramps after a cold night's wild camping on the Scottish National Trail, the chef and owner couldn't have been more welcoming. They served up a delicious breakfast in comfortable, warm surroundings and were genuinely interested in our journey. They wouldn't even take the full cost of the very reasonable £8 meal. Hot water & soap... More

We had a very good time at the Allan Ramsay hotel. The atmosphere was good. Rosie and chef Gary did a great job making us feel welcome. We stayed for three nights and would recommend it for everyone who wants to stay in an caracteristic place with beuatiful hills to walk on your doorstep

I was attending a course nearby and stayed in the single room for 2 nights. The room was functional and clean but I was very cold both nights. I asked for a blanket but they only had small picnic blankets (there were none in the room and the duvet was thin) and so I slept with my coat on the... More

We have been coming here on and off over many years as we are local to the area. Have not been for a while as it was not good the last time . Decided to give it another try and our feelings have not changed. A very limited menu with very average overpriced food. My husband had fish and chips... More

We arrived at about 3:30 pm and when at most venue we would have been told that there we were too late for lunch , nothing was a problem. We ordered the home made burgers and they were delicious and high quality. The welcome was warm and friendly. We had to skip the coffee and mince pie as we wanted... More

My sister and our 2 children (ages 2 and 3) stayed here . The welcome we received on entrance was amazing . A good old Scottish welcome . Couldn't fault it . The host was so lovely and made us feel all right at home . The room itself was of adequate size . Beds were comfy . It was... More

My wife and I along with our two dogs spent two lovely nights at The Allan Ramsay, when we arrived we were warmly welcomed and shown our room, the bed was just right, not too firm or to soft, the shower room small but ample for the two nights we were staying. Both nights we ate in the inn, the... More

Hi Jerome Thanks for posting your review. I'm glad you pointed out that you had just walked over the Pentland Hills and were soaking wet - it was probably one of the worst days weather we have had for a while in July!! I agree that on a day such as that a hearty meal would have been more appropriate.... More

I have been visiting the Allan Ramsay regularly over the past 35 years, and have witnessed its character being gradually chipped away over the years as proprietors came and went. Now largely open plan, with the ever flashing lights of the fruit machine visible throughout the pub, the old coaching inn character is only hanging on by a thread. One... More

Thank you for your comments. They are really useful. I'm pleased to say we have a new exciting menu underway from 12th June keeping traditional pub fayre but adding new dishes as well. The hotel is undergoing a steady transformation to bring it back to its unrivalled position as a coaching inn of great repute. This takes time. Bearing in... More
