This charming hotel run by a Dutchman who speaks six languages, is artfully decorated and set in beautiful grounds close to the Centre of the town. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and there is a pleasant, shared lounge area for guests. The views from the bedroom window was magnificent. Mark, the owner,is an exceptional person showing great concern... More

The hotel is absolutely breathtaking. The hotel is furnished to a high standard and is decorated with the owner's own paintings, which give the ambience a bold statement. The owner was extremely engaging and nothing was too much trouble. We had a beautiful room, with amazing views looking out to the sea. Breakfast was fabulous, beautifully cooked scrambled eggs and... We can not say enough about how great mark is. He went out of his way to help us with problems with a reservation in Austria. He so helped with recommendations and reservations. His breakfasts are delicious in cheerful breakfast room. The entire building has colorful art and is very cozy. Our room had magical view of the water and... More

Arrived from Bilbao airport by taxi. Not able to pick up hire car at airport due to having forgotten my driving license. Stressful start. Soon relaxed after meeting Mark the owner of Landarte. He has that wonderful calming presence and soon had us checked in and ready to go into town for dinner. The place is beautiful. Set on a... More

We came here to see if the great reviews were right - and we were not disappointed. This charming hotel was a lovely place to stay, friendly, comfortable, well located and interestingly decorated. We walked the trip to neighbouring Deba and Mark made us a much needed cup of tea when we got back. Lovely views from the gardens and... More

Landarte was a beautiful, homey, warm, and very artistically designed boutique hotel surrounded by lawns and with a terrace overlooking the sea. It's location was perfect, on a hill away from the center of town but only by 5 minutes ride. The owner was charming and friendly and very helpful, even supplying us with nice wine glasses for our late... More

Sums is is the entry gate of this wonderful park with astonishing geology and marine wildlife. Service is great as well as accommodations. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. The actual location is quiet. Breakfast is great, especially when... More

We stayed here at the end of a walking holiday in Northern Spain and it was an excellent choice. The location and views are superb, the rooms were good as were the breakfasts. Mark, the host was extremely accommodating of any requests and was prepared to go out of his way to help. Highly recommended.

Stayed for a few nights at the end of our walking holiday in Northern Spain. Great walks along the sea cliffs, very interesting geology. House is full of colour and interesting artefacts. Lovely site above the village. Very convenient to catch the train to San Sebastián or Bilbao, if you don't like staying in cities in the heat. Great restaurants... More
