The lucky Bug was recommended by a few of our local friends for us to go to for breakfast. Monika and Rob were gracious hosts. The breakfast was both decorative and delicious. So colorful to look at, we even took a picture of it with our camera. The coffee superb! We had all this plus a view of a quiet... More

We spent 6 fantastic nights at the Lucky Bug. The location is incredible; waking up in the jungle to a symphony of howler monkeys is really special. We unfortunately hit an unusual weather system while there and had a few really rainy days. A couple of times we decided to stay in and read and enjoy the jungle – Those... More

As discriminating travelers in the Arenal region of Costa Rica, we treated ourselves to a few nites at the "Lucky Bug" B&B.Here one can enjoy endless flora and fauna as you walk the paths around a small lake. Have all this and generous breakfast, and if you want you can have lunch, on the quiet deck overlooking this little piece... More

Glad you enjoyed your time with us, and thanks for the nice review. And you can also walk down to our dock and take either the canoe or the kayak out on our lake and see even more birds that are hiding back in the edges of the back corners of the lake. We are glad you enjoyed yourselves. More

We really liked the Lucky Bug! The rooms were decorated nicely and we could tell the owners were artistic! Food for breakfast was a huge plate of fruit, toast and different egg creations. The last morning they served French toast with a small syrup container and fruit. One drawback was the wifi, it didn't work, but we were gone most... More

Hola, So glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We love to send our people out for their day after having a good hearty breakfast. We get our vegetables from a Farmer's market, and our eggs are from a local woman who has the freshest and best eggs in town. As for the wifi, we have been working on upgrading.... More

The Lucky Bug is one place in Costa Rica that is a must see. The gardens magnificent, food spectacular home made while you wait, Monika the owner, kind, knowledgeable and a great chef. We, my husband and I have stayed there many times. We also have just driven 2 hours to have lunch....always a great experience with a good friend

Thank you for the nice review. We are glad you have come back to see us. We always enjoy having repeat customers, and always love to talk with everyone and let them know what things to do in the area, and the restaurants for dinner, etc. Our restaurant, Caballo Negro, is only open for breakfast and lunch, but we love... As users of Tripadvisor to carefully plan our lodging during a 8 day tour of the Arenal and Guanacaste areas of CR, we feel it only right that we share our experience in order to aid others and to express our thoughts about our 4 nights at Lucky Bug. Booking was simple online and we had no issues paying with... More

Thanks so much for your nice and detailed review. So glad you guys enjoyed yourselves with us. We enjoyed meeting you and helping you in your activities. And so glad you enjoyed my breakfasts. People like eating and looking out at the grounds. And not many places in this area have air conditioning because you really do not need it... More

Peaceful gardens. Quiet clean accommodations. Wonderful fresh food. Good conversation and suggestions. Fun colorful decor & artwork. CR art/craft store. Rates are reasonable and include delicious breakfast whenever you show up in the morning. And Monika loves animals too. We'd go back for sure.

From the hosts, to the food, to the view, to the best souvenir shop I found on my trip, Lucky Bug exceeded my expectations. Rob and Monika, the owners, were friendly and helpful, and had connections to help us find adventures both in the Arenal Lake/Volcano area and in other parts of the country. The view from our room (the... More

Wow...thanks for such a nice review. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and we could help you with the activities in the area. And yes, we have had many compliments on our coffee. This lovely Bed and Breakfast is all about the landscaped grounds and the artistic touches on the property. You see it right when you arrive with the mushroom lights down the driveway. It continues inside the room with brightly painted sinks and lampshades as well as beautifully decorated beds. Flowers are everywhere on the property. And the property backs up... More

Thanks for your review. We enjoyed having you here. I am sorry the issues you mentioned were an irritation. The door has never been mentioned, and our cleaning lady indicates that between the rain and having damp towels on the top could add to that issue. We will look at it and see if there is something to be done.... More
