Many thanks to the staff of Sandy Point Beach Club. We arrived just before all heck broke loose with the covid-19 pandemic. Everyone at the Club was calm, caring and professional, in spite of the fact that they were facing a shutdown of the hotel due to the worldwide measures to contain the virus. Truly, grace under pressure. The property is well kept and sits right on a small beach. We loved sitting in the loungers watching the sun go down over the ocean. There's a bar overlooking the beach as well. We didn't rent a car but found it easy enough to get around. Swimming is a 15-minute walk in Store Bay. We preferred taking the Club's free daily shuttle (small tip recommended) to Pigeon Point, a beautiful, well-maintained public beach about ten minutes away. For breakfast, we walked to Good Eats at the airport to grab a delicious inexpensive meal to bring back to the hotel. For dinner, we usually bought take-out roti or chicken on the strip past Store Bay to bring back to the hotel. Lots of walking helped counteract the extra food. We are looking forward to returning when things get back to normal.

We had a nice room at the resort and security was excellent. Everything worked well. We had to ask for a hair dryer twice, even though one was supposed to be in the room. The shower doesn't have a rim around it so water spills out into the bathroom. The mattress has no mattress pad, which I suspect is the norm in Trinidad/Tobago, but when the contour sheet comes off, one lies on a bare mattress. We don't think that is very sanitary considering that it is a bed. The property is a bit out of the way, but there is an on-site convenience market and several restaurants within a very short walk. Even though it is right next to the airport, you can't hear planes taking off or landing, unless you are outside. Even so, they are not annoying and don't spoil sitting outside. The patios are very roomy and are nice to sit on during the day.

Just returned from this resort, this is the third time I have been here but this time I found that it had deteriorated hugely from the last time I was here. All the appliances were very rusty and badly needed replacing. The furniture was very uncomfortable and definitely seen better days. It was very noisy even at midnight! The family occupying the room next door were using the hot tub as their personal swimming pool, jumping into it, snorkelling and swimming in it which was ignored by security. One of the bunk beds had a strong smell of stale urine! However the cleaning staff were great, reception were very helpful and the gardeners kept the grounds in excellent condition. Very close to the airport although this was not a problem.

We loved our stay at Sandy Point. The staff was always very friendly, helpful, and efficient! Alvira, the activities director, went out of her way to transport our small group for the birdwatching tour, which was amazing. While the on-site beach is not conducive to swimming, the resort has a free shuttle everyday to three beautiful beaches. We appreciated the times of the shuttle if you only wanted to spend part of your day at the beach instead of the entire day. We also appreciated the size of the resort where you don't have to walk forever to reach the pool or beach. There is an on-site restaurant overlooking the water, as well as the open-air club house which includes the bar. Pina Coladas were great! We look forward to returning in the future!
