The highlight of the stay was the energetic young women that served the meals. Everyone in our tour group was impressed. The monastery across the street was interesting though sparsely decorated inside. I attended one of the service and enjoyed the singing prayers.

We were upgraded to a large bedroom. So large it would have been a suite had a wall been dividing the room. There was a nice large clean bathroom with a working jacuzzi. All very central in this charming little village. The only problem was you could hear every grunt, shunt and growl coming from neighbouring rooms and bathrooms. Luckily...

So this was one of those stays which could have gone very badly but, because of the delightful owners, ended up being brilliant!! We wanted to come to Santo Domingo, so found this place in Alastair Sawday's guide - as we had our two dogs with us, we needed somewhere who would accept them. On checking in, we paid a...

In this tiny village, this Hotel is a great place to stay. The bar is mostly open and one can get sandwiches and breakfast there. The dining room presents very well prepared and tasty food in wide selection. The rest of the little town mostly across from the Monastery is easily accessible from this place. Parking is a sinecure.

A three star hotel with many plus points including pool and parking. We paid extra for a larger room which gave us a posh shower and a patio. Not much of a view during the day but great for star gazing. The restaurant is good though the breakfast is rather basic & served in the bar of the hostal which...

Beautiful historic town with monastery. Hotel great value for money - clean & with a good value typical regional food restaurant in the center of town. The owners also sell a range of local wine and food. If you arrive on the right day you may also be offered wild mushrooms too!

We booked into the Hostal but since it was snowing and really quiet, were upgraded to the Hotel room. It was far more spacious and the man running the hostal bar was so friendly and so was his Mum - just lovely. The Gregorian Chants at the Monastry are totally amazing and the Hostal is right opposite. Santo Domingo is...

The hotel is pleasant enough but does not live up to the 3-star rating. It's a 1-star at best. The shower was tepid and did not improve after complaining.

This little place is two places. There's the hotel (not used) and the Pension, where we did stay. The rooms here are just like the Spain we used to know. Everything's OK, but a bit cramped and basic. The lady that runs the place along with multiple family members is a lovely character, very friendly, and quite willing to bargain...

We wanted somewhere interesting to stop off on our drive down to the south of Spain and we found this hotel in Alastair Sawday's guide on special places to stay in Spain. It is about a half hour from the A1/E05 south of Burgos and well worth the detour. The small town is beautiful, with cream sandstone buildings, and the...
