Tassia is a completley unique and amazing lodge for those with an adventurous spirit. The staff could not have been more welcoming and accomodating- they were all happy and so proud of their lodge and rightly so. While it's off the beaten track, it is really worth the effort to get there- definitely worth going for at least three nights to really get into the vibe. There are few places left in Kenya where you feel you are really immersed in the elements, with no signs of civilization.

The rooms were each unique and beautiful and the views were stunning. We stayed as a big family and loved the serenity of the location, the pool, and the lovely common places. A truly memorable experience that we will never forget.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Tassia. Our open air cabana perched on rocks with expansive views was achingly beautiful. the food was really healthy and inventive. The main lodge area is fantastic, again on a rock perch, with a nice breeze and inviting spots to read (me) or scout for game (my wife). We really enjoyed our Masai Warrior Guide David, his "intern" Sakarit, Mike the bartender and the other staff. Martin, the manager is lovely as well. We felt like a part of the family by the time we left. A trip to the local Masai village was educational and eye opening and I highly recommend it. We wont forget the kindness and great service we received here.

From the minute we landed we were looked after with great care by people who love their country and their land. Several game drives, including one where we ran into a tower of over 50 giraffes, many talks about history, nature, wildlife, tribes, tradition....hosted by Charlie and Sue and a great team of guides. Very comfortable rooms and facilities and delicious meals made us feel at ease and at home. Sundowners in the wild with training in archery, a hike up to the caves, sleeping under the stars... our group of 10 spent an amazing two days/nights at Tassia Lodge. Thank you team Tassia x

Tassia is unique, and not a traditional safari camp. Although there is a lot of game to see, it is less than in other areas, so your expectations should be different. For our family, Tassia was the fourth and final segment of our trip, so relaxing was most important to us, and Tassia delivers. We were the only guests for three nights, so we had the place to ourselves, which was nice. Sitting on my boulder "porch" watching the sun come up was as fun as any game drive. It's all good--the walks, the games, the guides, Blood Mountain. Martin and his family are fun and interesting as hosts. The lodge is 2 1/2 hours from the Lewa airstrip, so unless you helicopter in or fly to Tassia's airstrip, prepare for the long BuMpY ride, through villages and ever changing scenery--saw 6 rhino on the drive out! I'd advise making it your last stop as we did, as its best feature is the relaxed atmosphere.

Recently returned from Tassia and all I can think is what excuse can I use to go back the 15,000 kms from New Zealand. Last time I told my husband it was our last family trip and as venue for that event Tassia was perfect. Our kids 17 and 21 were as entranced as we were. Tassia is beyond comparison with anything I have experienced in many decades of pretty extensive travel. The view over the Savannah is humbling. The simplicity and beauty of the rooms open to the elements connects at some very deep level and I would doubt there are many that would come away untouched. We loved arriving by car on the two hour bumpy and sometimes exhilarating jeep ride in,gave a sense of the isolation of the place and we saw wildlife in both directions (flying straight in is an option). Martin Wheeler was faultless in his attention to us. Isiah who guided us over our stay is one the most articulate and intelligent young men I have met in many years and the information he imparted was fascinating .The food was creative, fresh and consistently delicious . Mike, George ,Grace and all the rest of the team at Tassia showed such intuitive understanding of hosting,so impressed.I am working on that new justification spin and hope to get there again soon. From all of us Kiwis, thank you Team Tassia xx

We stayed 8 nights - which was great because it allowed us time to enjoy the locality, wildlife & atmosphere. We really can't recommend it enough. The setting on the rocky bluff is outstanding and the weather was beautiful. The manager's, Martin, experience shines and it was a joy to have him pass on just some of his knowledgeable in all things African - he does a fantastic job and is a kind & lovely host - although I now have to listen to my dear sweet wife telling all her girlfriends about him! Special mention also to the guides, Isaiah & another Martin, is due. All the staff members ahev a great sense of humour and they seemed to enjoyed being teased by us. We saw load s of stuff - elephants galore, heard leopard and lion, rode horses up on the plateau at Borana, participated in Tassia's Olympics which sounds chesy but actually was good fun, walked, sundowners, dinners under the starts, bush breakfast, hiked up Blood Mountain - the lot! Quite how their chef cooked up such fine & varied fayre is beyond me. Go there - you'll love it!

we loved it here. so many places are described as unique, but this one really is, i'd return in a heartbeat. that is even thou the weather was often unreliable while we were there. if you're thinking about going there, read the description carefully to be sure it is the right place for you. it is Amazing! the place is co-wned by Antonia and Martin; Martin was there while we were there, and he is an amazing individual - with many many abilities and accomplishments. A few of them are his passion for the place, for helping/changing things for the people (as they would like them changed), for the flora and fauna, and especially for raptors, and he is a captivating story teller and a great listener. Our guide Isaiah was great; we had such a good time with him and with the other staff as well! He never suggested in any way that we were incompetent, instead showing patience and interest. Nothing but kindness and knowledge. (and no, Isaiah, I can't start a fire yet, but I believe I could learn). although the weather prevented or interrupted a number of the activities that others refer to in their reviews, we had a great time, and still did lovely things - dinner in a meadow, or on top of the main lodge area, Masai Olympics, the hyrax in and out of our room. All the elephants, the rain coming sideways thru the window openings. And, oh yes, you should definitely have a massage from Lucy, not at all expensive and very well done - she's had good training, is deeply caring and a lot of fun. The food, designed by Antonia, and prepared by Geoffrey the chef, was terrific, better than anywhere else we were (all of which was good). All the places we stayed were very good; this is the place that touches your soul.

Tassia Lodge is magical in every way. Wonderful staff, wonderful host in Antonia, amazing food and community owned. A place to experience and discover a totally different part of Kenya. Highly recommended. A place to return to. Best to get there from wherever you are by plane rather than overland although Tassia will come and meet you from wherever you are.
