Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Quite basic room although you can see the new owners are doing things as there were new linen and wall decorations. Free washing machine and $4 for the dryer which was massive. There is a spa pool but it cost $10 per person extra which would have been $40 for our family so we didn’t use it. Kids loved the owners dog and said hi to him. Could walk to restaurants.

We stopped over at Glenorchy for a night and stayed at Glenorchy Motel. It was a lovely motel, with friendly staff. Centrally located, it was a short walk down to the lake or to the shops. A beautiful view of mountains from front and behind the motel. Comfortable beds with electric blankets and a heater in the room, which was appreciated on the 7°C “summer” day we had last week!!

We booked our room at the Tourist information in Queenstown without knowing what the Motel was like. On arrival we were pleased with the choice. The room was quite large, clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately we had to vacate the room by ten oclock the following morning. I did try and get a later time, because my wife was going horse riding until about 12:30, and it would have been nice if she could have a shower before travelling on.
It was made clear that this was not possible! I wouldnt have minded if the place was full, but from what I could tell there were only another two rooms occupied.

While this motel is in one of the most beautiful parts of NZ, the motel has dropped in standards since the previous owners had it. We have stayed here many times over the years. The current owners are however, very friendly. The room was not clean with nail clippings by the bed and generally the unit was needing a good clean eg dead spider in one of the kitchen drawers. Overpriced and a total rip off being charged an additional 3% for using a credit card. This should not be allowed. There was a plethora of unnecessary cushions all over the beds and tasteless artificial 'plants'. Disappointed.

The entrance was jumble of chairs and table. Each room seemed to have two and it was a cold, wet winter. We had to pick our way between them, plus a pile of building materials . Inside no hooks to hang anything. Bathroom freezing, no heater and cold fan went on with the light. Worst of all, beds covered in black cushions that are not washed between guests. There are covid times. I had slobber all over mine. Ugh. The owner has given up. She is on the market and more or less told us she just doesn't care any more. our room was not even serviced. She told us the staff had not turned up but she did not bother doing it herself.

Old run down rooms, over priced, dirty and cold rooms. Dirty towel left in bathroom drawer from previous or many previous guests. Would not recommend this motel and would not stay again. My advice would be to drive back to Queenstown and pay a lesser price for a better product. .

Good stay in Glenorchy. clean and spacious room. My only complaint was that the bed was SO old and uncomfortable. I hardly slept the 3 nights we spent here. free wifi but the wifi had to be reconnected to probably every 30 mins or so.

Dear Sarah, thank you for your review and we are very sorry that you had an issue with the bed in your Suite. You should have contacted us after the first night and we would have moved you to another suite or provided an alternative arrangement. Since the owners bought the motels in April of the same year, there were a few teething problems and updates that were required. I'm happy to say that all beds have had quality control and been updated where required. The Wifi has since been updated and is now continuous. Safe travels and a welcome return. Lyndal

The unit is a little old but warm and cozy (however the studio unit was a little tight for 4 adults), also the owners are great! Great wifi connection in the room (not always the case in NZ especially in smaller towns). We stayed for 2 nights and had no complaints, even took advantage of the laundry (cold water wash is free, and $4 for the very huge tumble dry which was quite reasonable). Thank you for the hospitality Kath! Just across the street is a general store, which stocks our favourite pie from Fairlie!
However, room and bathroom especially needs more storage / hanging spot.

There aren't a lot of choices in a small town like Glenorchy, but you can't go wrong with this spot. The owner was super friendly and had everything sorted for out late arrival just in case she wasn't readily available. You can park right outside the room, which is incredibly convenient. The accommodation is simple and comfortable; everything we needed for a one night stay.

Arrived fairly late but were checked in and in our rooms within 5 minutes. Parking is in front of the rooms, so not far to carry the luggage. Rooms are large and ours had a fully set up kitchen which was great, we cooked our meal that night as most restaurant kitchens had closed by the time we arrived. Very comfortable bed with nice hot showers, the rooms were spotless and very close to some good breakfast options in the morning. Good value!
