Travelers' Choice
Camp Glenorchy is New Zealand’s first Net Zero Energy Retreat & Cabins. It’s part of The Headwaters, an inspiring revitalisation of classic camping, cabins, group gathering and retail services in the Glenorchy community. At the end of a beautiful 40-minute drive up the scenic shores of Lake Wakatipu you’ll find Camp Glenorchy nestled near the base of the towering Richardson and Humboldt mountains. Here natural beauty surrounds you, both in the unforgettable landscape and in the warmth of the people of Glenorchy. Whether you’re seeking time in the outdoors, memorable adventures, or some quiet time away, Camp Glenorchy is designed to inspire our visitors and guests. Due to the status of Alert Level 4 in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic announced by the government on 23rd March, we will be temporarily closed for four weeks, effective 26 March. This closedown period may be extended. We look forward to welcoming guests in the future once this is all over.

Fantastic place to stay. Absolute quality facilities and care from the staff. Stayed in the powered sites, loved cooking in their amazing kitchen and the bathrooms were beautiful. Staff played a movie on the big screen for my 2 year old while I cooked dinner. Great to see the different ways they help the environment with their compostable toilets, use of solar power and more. Defiantly would come back again and worth the cost.

Everything about our 3 day stay was enjoyable from the high standard of the room to the very workable and tidy share kitchen for hotel-supplied meal we pre-ordered. All amenities were spotless, the staff were informative and helpful. Even to decor was interesting and invited plenty of easy reading about the retreat and the local area.

What a wonderful place to stay, Cottage was comfortable, cooking amenities were perfect. Easy walk to the rest of the village, and great mountain vistas, what more could you want. The only downfall was that our holiday ended, we will return.

Most New Zealanders would have no idea of this eco-camp and what has been achieved with it in Glenorchy. The support that is put back into the community is unbelievable. The rooms are superb although expect a firm rather than soft bed and the facilities for cooking whether inside or on the BBQ area are world class. So easy to order your food pack and then just a matter of cooking it and enjoying what has been wonderfully provided.`
