    Great stay in Niseko
We stayed at the Hotel in March 2020 and had a great time there. The location is perfect - literally 5 min walk from the lift in ski boots and they even have a bus that can drive you there in 1 min. As we were traveling with 4 people we had 2 rooms close to each other and both were good size with balcony and nice views of the slopes. We loved the Japanese breakfast they offered which included Tuna Sashimi and a little Nabe pot with Kani. The hotel also has a ski valet where you can rent and then leave your skis. And another highlight was their hot bath that provided great relaxation after a day of skiing. Would definitely stay there again.

Are there more than Five Stars available? Chalet Ivy deserves them! Staying here in Hirofu was a great choice!
I cannot say enough great things about the hotel and staff at Chalet Ivy. From the moment we walked in the door, they made us feel welcome and did everything they could during our stay to help out and make our experiences great. The hotel was clean and modern, and very centrally located. Since there are fewer restaurants open due to Covid, the staff was incredibly helpful in finding us wonderful places to eat (from fun local Japanese cuisine to an Italian restaurant) and in arranging for the hotel shuttle to get us there. They even helped us get in touch with a local artist whose gallery was located across the street, but wasn’t keeping regular hours due to the pandemic. Sho at the front desk spoke with the artist and arranged a convenient time where we could meet him and buy one of his beautiful rice paper lamps. The shuttle was always available to take us to the slopes and while we could easily have called for them to take us back, we found that by ending our skiing day at the Welcome Center, we could quickly and easily walk 250 meters downhill back to the hotel. The great onsen was a wonderful way to relax after a day on the slopes and the breakfast was incredible (plus by day 2, the waitress knew I wanted milk with my coffee and brought it for me). I would recommend Hirafu as the best of the four towns in the Grand Niseko ski area. Hirafu has, by far, the largest town/village area with a variety of restaurants and shops, plus we found it to be English-speaking friendly.

    The best!
Well done again! This is our second time staying at Chalet Ivy and we will be returning the next season. Service was excellent from the reception to the ski concierge to the shuttle drivers. We had a very pleasant one week stay in one of their suites with a beautiful view of the ski slopes. Most impressive is that you can see the Hotel Manager tending to all services from the restaurant to the reception. He is present at all times and late into the evening, making sure that all runs smoothly for all his guests.

I want to give top marks for customer recovery for Chalet Ivy. I booked five nights there for a Feb ski trip in october 2022. It was confirmed by Agoda, the booking agglomeration site. But 3 weeks before the trip, they claimed they couldn’t find the booking and had to cancel the booking. The fault seemed to lay with their 3rd party wholesaler for rooms. With sky high costs and low availability at this stage, I freaked out. But Vladi the reservations officer from Chalet Ivy manager managed to re-book me in albeit at a slightly higher price- offset by the compensation I received from Agoda. We even had an upgrade to a Mt Yotei view room. Great save. Also a shoutout to front reception staff like Rou Hong who was so helpful. All in a great experience staying at the Chalet Ivy

I stayed in Chalet Ivy once about 5 years ago for one night on Business. it wasn't anything more than a typical japanese biz hotel, well maintained and functional, but not great. My friend convinced me to try them again... and I loved it. The room was in the new wing and very well appointed. The basic hotel room had two full beds together for a giant king. can easily sleep family of 4. Onsen was clean and basic. Laundry room was efficient and clean. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet stole the show! it was an amazing spread including sashimi and local rice. they really put in effort into the breakfast. They have a private shuttle ready to take you up to the welcome center (dot base) or the gondola. if you compare this to most other properties in the area, like Aya or Setsu or Intuition, Chalet Ivy's private vans are the MOST convenient by far. many other properties are not even running private shuttles this year due to staff shortage. After 15 years of coming to Niseko, this was by far the best hotel experience I've had. I think it's because Chalet Ivy is a proper hotel and NOT a condo trying to hotel. I didn't realize there would be a large difference until now. Def give the property a try.

We booked 2 rooms for 3 nites and paid in advance more than 6 months ago and requested for rooms to be close together as we have 2 children with us. The hotel arranged us to stay at 2 different floor, made it extremely inconvenient for us. The front desk girl looked tired, over-stressed and unhelpful. The rooms are very basic and small in size for the high price we paid except for the scenic Mt Yotei view. It takes 15 minutes to walk and 5 minutes' drive to the nearest ski ground and hotel's ski-rental instructor & staff and coach driver are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast area is small and packed with people, food is refilled quickly. The hotel arranged several activities during the CNY period but it get over-crowded in the lobby area. The laundry machines are not working very well and the onsen is small but okay. Car parking is free. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance too.

We stayed at Chalet Ivy on a ski trip with friend in late January, 2020. We also stayed there two years ago and loved it so much we booked it again. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms nice with great views of Mt. Yotei, and a fabulous breakfast buffet with both Japanese and European/American food- delicious! Two years ago our daughter got engaged in the lobby bar and everyone clapped! Also love the onsite onsens, the ability to rent skis right at the hotel ski shop, shuttles to the gondola and great proximity to the mountain and the great restaurants, bars and shops in town.

We visited over New Year and found the hotel overall very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. The Good: tidy and beautiful rooms, well heated, delicious breakfast, good location near ski fields (depending on where you start on), great bedding, strong hot shower, friendly front desk staff are always happy to help with bookings, lots of English speakers amongst staff The Bad: Small room, very pricey (but on par with similar places in the area at this time of year), breakfast area is too small and gets shockingly crowded in the morning and staff have trouble replenishing food in time, inability to book the hotel restaurant for dinner unless a deposit for 10 people is paid upfront, no area in the room to dry wet gear.

If you’re not big on customer service then staying here is great. The rooms are nicely decorated, modern & minimal. More spacious and updated then the Hilton Niseko. The breakfast spread is quite nice as well, as well as the option of booking a private onsen on site. But, front desk is unhelpful, uninformed and very disappointing considering the money you’re paying. For example, when you ask about the schedule for shuttle service to Hilton, they advise you to check yourself. When asked about calling for a taxi, you receive different responses from staff. Supposedly, one staff said you can’t book in advance, but a different staff helped us book one! I booked a year in advance for 2 rooms and requested that the rooms be on same floor as we were traveling with kids, upon arrival my kids were on 3rd floor whereas we were on 5th. How did other families get to be on same floor? It was very disappointing that Chalet could not even accommodate this! Be aware not to book a spa treatment! The single bed massage room was probably a converted storage, so that the hotel can boast of a “spa” room on their site and be in the same rating as other 4 star hotels & up-charge room rates! It’s right next to the ski concierge and was the worst massage experience ever, all the noises, talking outside was so intrusive it definitely was not relaxing! The front desk should caution guests of this when guests inquire! When you request front desk to have housekeeping clean your room within a time frame, you expect it to be done. 2x housekeeping came late afternoon when room was in usage. Very inconsiderate! We will definitely not be coming back, with what you pay, there’s hopefully better service elsewhere!! Definitely management here is not doing their jobs in training their staff to be more helpful, cheerful, and well informed!
