Rooms are very clean, beds are good, heating is awesome, close to lift, has a drying room for snow stuff. Large communal kitchen - needs a very good clean though unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to cook while there due to the unclean, there was old food left from previous visitors as old as December in the fridge, the floor... Pro's: During the off-season in Hirafu this was a very cheap option as a couple. There are laundry facilities (additional cost). Great location for access to both Gran Hirafu & Hirafu intersection for buses and restaurants. There was 1 member of staff, a Japanese guy with long hair who was very polite, helpful and accommodating. Con's: Extremely noisy. We were... More

I just stayed at Owashi Lodge for a week, and the big plus here is definitely the location (so many TA reviews on this). The facilities are complete & generally clean, the common kitchen can be messy but I feel some users are not cleaning up when they should. As for the staff, I find them to be friendly, responsive... Owashi Lodge was basically a place where season workers and staff were staying and not a hostel where you can meet lot's of other travellers. There was very little consideration for guests and it was difficult to actually know who was working there as no one seemed at all bothered about any customer service or friendliness. I have stayed at... More

Stayed here for one night in January 2016. I will not stay here again, there are better options. The rooms are decent enough, bathrooms and showers are disgusting. The service is horrible. Aside from one guy that picked us up and another Japanese guy at the front desk, the rest of the staff is rude, unwilling to assist guest, and... More

We stayed at Owashi for 3 nights as part of a snowboarding trip. The bunk bed (two person) rooms are very spacious, and the basement bar is a great way to unwind at the end of a day on the slopes. Owashi is about 5 minutes (walking) to 5 ski lifts / gondolas- the location was perfect!

We stayed here for a few days for a snowboarding trip. The location is fantastic as it's super close to the lifts although a little hard to find. It's right behind chalet ivy. We booked private rooms and the only complaint is the beds are a bit squeaky. It has a bar, tv room and games. I would stay here... More

Basic lodge style accommodation with all the necessities. Rooms were on the small side with a single bunk bed, cupboard, one plastic chair, small table, lamp and heater. The whole lodge including rooms and bathrooms were always clean and well maintained. Bathrooms are shared with one on every floor, however each floor is for one gender only. This means to... More

For the location and price this place is great, its a no thrills cosy backpacker style accommodation that allows you to book rooms for yourself or a pair in bunk beds with shared bathrooms and facilities on each floor and a bar in the basement, I though the boardroom and drying room was good with tuning area etc. I've stayed... We stayed for a little over a week, booked months in advance, yet still got the room directly next to the kitchen which was frustrating as it was very noisy. I didn't have high expectations being a backpackers but the room was spacious and comfortable for what it was. The worst thing was a staff member felt that it was... More
