We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay at Shanti Toya! It is truly a place of peace and calm surrounded by nature away from the hustle & bustle of Ubud. The staff were all extremely friendly and the food everyday was delicious. Yoga classes were suitable for all levels and teachers explained everything well. We also really liked the cultural program that was offered during the days (especially the Bali experience tour thorugh the village was very interesting). Also worth mentioning was the amazing massage by Agun, one of the best I ever had! However, in my opinion there is also room for a few improvements. The pool is lovely but definitely missing a few sun- or loungechairs to relax (there was nowhere you could comfortably sit or lie down near the pool). Electricity is very unstable and often has short blackouts (one of them burnt out the charging cable for my phone). Also the yoga props (especially the pillows and blankets) are quite unhygienic and have a damp smell. They should be replaced or given a washable pillow case. It would also be good to offer a third yoga class on days where there is not much else on the program. Overall would still come back in a heartbeat if I‘m in Bali again.

Response from Kalina Shanti Toya, General Manager at Shanti Toya
Responded 2 days ago
Dear Rahel, Thank you very much for your kind sharing! We take to our hearts especially the words about improvements! We are aware of them and because the list is long, we have to take it slowly, step by step. Lounge chairs are on the list :)! Electricity- a few months ago we applied for a new, more stable connection, but it depends on PLN, company providing the electricity in Indonesia, and it takes a lot of time. Bolsters and blankets- we wash them regularly, but battling the extremely high humidity here is very challenging. Nevertheless, I will make sure they go to the laundry more often! Regarding the 3rd yoga class, we think that for the most of our guests that might be too much, and it's just a temporary situation that we don't have the dancing class during the day, but in the evening. This will change in 2 months :) All the best wishes to you and Regula, thank you for being with us last week, and we hope to see you again! With Love and Gratitude, Kalina and Shanti Toya team <3

Shanti Toya is a hidden gem snuck into a lush natural setting. The place is simple in the most lovely way. The yoga is accessible and challenging. The teachers were amazing and were so natural in their approach. Kalina was so welcoming and Tarah ability to create a little community there with the guests for a week was magical. If you’re lucky enough to go to this lovely place do it.

A serene and beautiful place - the retreat at Shanti Toya was amazing! Refreshed and recharged my mind, body and soul 🙏🏽Kalina, Widi, Putu, Ketut, Dalia and the whole team are kind and generous souls, organising our daily activities and tours, and sharing Balinese culture and traditions. The vegan meals were bountiful and delicious, the massages by Bu Agus were sublime! The yoga classes offer different styles and the teachers are awesome - modifying and adjusting the pace to suit us all. I met some wonderful ladies and made new friends. I highly recommend this retreat to anyone in need of complete rest and relaxation and I hope to be back again soon. Suksma 🙏🏽

Incredible place with wonderful people! It was one of my best experiences I ever had. So inspiring! The local yoga teachers were very professional and the classes have been so good and for all levels (I am a beginner), the food was amazing and we had a lot of other attractions. It felt like a family, all in all it was perfect.

I am very blissful for this amazing retreat! The hosts are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The programme is perfect with different very good teachers and differents yogas, excellent massage and local insights such as balinese dancing lesson, cooking lesson, preparing and doing offerings, ricefields.. The venue is breathtaking due to its location, jungle surroundings and pool with source water. The accommodation is just what you need. The food is so delicious! This week was just what I needed to fully reload my batteries in a laidback area and be with a great bunch of people. I'll be back, Suksama ! :)

Enjoyable and PEACEFULL yoga retreat in a beautiful place surrounded by nature, a nice village and ricefields. The food was delicious, all the people and yoga class were very nice... and that wonder springwater swimming pool !!! We also learnt a lot about balinese culture thanks to the team member and village. Although our room was verry basic with old furniture (the standard double room with AC and private bathroom) we did sleep well. We surely will remember this week forever.

I have been to Shanti Toya 4 times! Each time I go to Bali is where I stay. I am a yoga practitioner, a nature and healthy food lover, a traveler seeking for authentic experiences and like minded people with whom to have meaningful conversations. In Shanti Toya I always find this all. On top of it, it's run by lovely genuine people that will go beyond in order to deliver an unforgettable experience. The yoga classes cover many styles and this is fun, all of the teachers are balinese, there's also a sound healing and a Kirtan in the program; during the day you can join cultural experiences they organise for the guests or chill by the pool immersed in a beautiful tropical garden, walk around the village and rice fields, catch a Gojek to Ubud if you need to (is only 25 minutes away) or relax getting a wonderful massage. If you are looking for a place where to recharge, nourish body and soul and just be, away the pricy fanciness, traffic and pollution of other nearby destinations, that's the place to be!

This place is a true haven. I arrived feeling pretty beaten down after a hard year, and within a week, I was already feeling stronger, saner and healthier. Kalina and all the people running the ashram are so friendly and kind. The yoga is great, tailored to all abilities, and takes place on an open platform right in the jungle canopy. The food is vegan and delicious (especially breakfast!), and there’s always tea and snacks available. If you’re feeling up to it, there’s a daily activity to take part in, but you can also just relax in the beautiful pool. The best thing about this is that you are joining a wonderfully supportive community of staff and fellow guests. It’s not a luxury retreat, but that’s not the point - it’s clean, comfortable and excellent value. It’s also a joy to be out in the countryside if you’ve just been battling the traffic of Ubud or Canggu. I cannot recommend Shanti Toya highly enough.

Wonderful experience. If you are looking for a yoga retreat, this is the place for you. The staff are wonderful, helpful, attentive and kind, the food is beautiful and in abundance, the location is serene and immersed in nature. The yoga practise was beautiful, twice a day Yin and Yang styles. The friends I made were amazing. Also the price is extremely cost effective for what you get. Also I was a solo female traveller and felt very safe! If you are feeling the call, go go go xxx

This retreat is amazing if you are traveling solo and also with friends or with your partner. The location is amazing it feels like you are in the middle of a jungle. Very close there is a rice field too. Kalina has a wonderful personality and she is so kind. I stayed 3 nights only and thats also possible if you are in Bali for a shorter time. There are culture programs, cooking class, village visiting, rice field visiting, dancing class soooo many programs and of course two yoga classes daily. The massage is also amazing. We were a group of 14-15 people and almost everyone was from a different country so its also a good place to connect with other cultures and to meet new people. Im so grateful for my experience in this place and also for the people whom I met there ❤️
