Staying in the area on business, I wanted a hotel close to where I needed to be for the next morning. The Bridgehouse Hotel seemed an ideal venue. It was, sadly, not to be as good as it first appeared. The staff were very good, helpful and genuinely pleasant. The problem is with the hotel itself! Quite tatty now, it...

Fantastic value for money. Great service from all the staff who couldn't do enough for you. Food was very good especially the Full English Breakfast. Good selection of beers from the Handpump was a bonus for me Locals used the bar which is always a good sign For the money paid I can not fault The Brigehouse

Greeted by a lovely lady and everything explained. 4 of the 5 staying for the Ironman would be leaving at 4:15am so she got everyone's orders and made up sandwiches for them to take as a 'breakfast'. Lovely thought. I stayed later and had a fantastic breakfast cooked to order. Room absolutely fine, plumbing a little noisy but nothing of...

Stayed here for one night passing through on our way south. Upon checking in, we were told it was fish and chip night but when we asked if anything other than fish was available, nobody seemed sure. Plus, during our conversation, staff were distracted by some other issue so it really wasn't a great welcome. We were taken to our...

Stayed for two nights at the Bridgehouse. Welcoming and friendly staff with basic, but comfortable accommodation. The restaurant was not very adventurous, but served such wonderful fish and chips (8.5 on my own personal scale of 0..10) that I had them both nights. The attached bar area had some very good real ale - I'd never tried Holdens Golden Glow...

My family had lunch at Bridge House today for my birthday. The staff had decorated the table for me and we were made to feel very welcome by all staff. Excellent food. Most of us had the carvery but one person had the cod which he said was well cooked and a good portion. Well worth a visit and is...

Food taste was very average. Hot starters were served on ice cold plates. The waitress apologised and kindly provided hot plates - the message from the chef was that he doesn't put salad on a hot plate. The salad made up only about 10% of the starter. Main courses were barely ok. The "twice cooked" chips were barely cooked once...

I went there last night with a couple of friends to celebrate my "all clear" from cancer, the food was lovely, served hot, value for money, the atmosphere was nice and the staff very pleasant and attentive. I live locally and will definitely be going back !!!!

“One side of the building is close to the main road, so that might be worth avoiding (though I'm not sure how busy it gets overnight). We had a room on the back, overlooking the pub garden. It wasn't noisy while we were there, but I can imagine it might be if people were outside drinking till late.”
