I've been visiting Sanetsch on several occasions, for a quick walk around the lake and to take in the wonderful mountain air and on this occasion, along with my family, we decided to eat something at the Auberge. It was a foggy August day and we were walking with my grandfather, who is 93 years old. As he was a little tired and the weather was cool, we asked the waiter at the restaurant, if we could sit at a corner outside (there were no clients outside that day) and eat some of our picnic along with a few dishes from the restaurant. The waiter who was a very kind young man told us that it would be fine. We sat down and waited for our order as we set our food out. A few minutes later, the owner stormed out of the restaurant, screaming hysterically "Ici, c'est un restaurant!" (this is a restaurant) while I tried to explain that we had asked the waiter and that we had an elderly person with us. He literally kicked us out, while insulting me. I will never go there again and... More

I booked a meal for two at half-price on www.qoqa.ch (special deals website) months before going there. The setting and panorama of the place are magnificent. There is a museum and small chapel (where weddings take place). Actually, the whole place is a museum, with alpine decorations, bearskins, old skis etc. Wether one likes it or not, it gives it a quaint and cosy atmosphere.
The owner Jean-Maurice has earned himself a reputation of moodiness, I found him more of a funny character, not to be taken too seriously.
Dinner was near the fireplace, and really succulent. Traditional dishes (raclette, pot-au-feu) revisited, a treat. The apple tart for dessert was excellent, although a lighter dessert after such a hearty meal would have been more appropriate.
We slept in the dorm (CHF 49.-/p.pers), which was ok, except for the fact that only one WC-bathroom for 2 dorms and 2 bedrooms (CHF 178.-/room) to share is not enough. I even wonder wether it is legally acceptable...
