Very relaxing and comfortable short out of season break. We used the pub as a base for exploring North Cornwall and found it ideally located. Our room was really comfortable and the delight of just popping downstairs for a pint (or two) and an evening meal made this a really easy and relaxing break. I think it is probably a top tip to visit out of season because Cornwall is beautiful all year round, but hoards of other visitors aren't. After a bracing walk to watch the Atlantic crashing against the craggy coastline, what could be better than a hearty meal and a pint by the fire. Fresh warm bread at breakfast is a bonus too - so simple - but delicious!

Comfortable, cosy traditional Cornish Inn with a lovely warm welcome from the landlord. Very well kept beer and ales and big open fires we love this pub, every time we come back something new has been done it seems to a real labour of love for the owners.. the kitchen was open and we had lovely fresh cod and chips couldn't fault it. We will return for Valentine's day

I have waited a while to write this review because I was so angry at how we were treated that I needed to calm down and write this rationally rather than out of anger. I write this to hopefully prevent anyone else having the same experience we did. This is quite long but I guarantee that if you are considering visiting this establishment - please read everything. So here goes...Bearing in mind we are locals and weren’t on holiday and visiting out of season. I also know the owners Sandra & Adrian as I had worked in one of there other establishments and had no reason to believe our meal would be anything but nice. when we first arrived we were advised the chef was off sick and had been for the last 4 days, so pretty much everything that wasn’t fried was off the menu. No-one called us either to give us the option to cancel. This didn’t leave much left on the menu & given that it was a Friday evening we didn’t have any other choice than to stay and try and make the best of it. The lady host was angry at being put in this position and apologised massively at our disappointment. So we ordered, starting with calamari-the worst most greasy non calamari like tasting dish you’ve ever tasted, but we ate it cos we were hungry by this point. The next dish was fish and chips & 3 lasagne (what could possibly go wrong??) Well the fish and chips seemed okay?? but when we discovered there was no pasta in any of the lasagnas!!!! - well I think that was the straw that broke the camels back! We complained to the hostess and she said she would get the owner. What happened next was only what can be described as an anger fuelled attack by the owner on his customers. I don’t think i have ever witnessed something quite so disgusting and aggressive an attack than this with no discussion or questions. We were launched upon from the moment he arrived, saying we were abusing the staff and constantly & unnecessarily complaining. This initial attack was aimed at my 74 year old father in law and mother in law - utterly disgraceful language and they way he spoke to them OMG!!!! we were then threatened with the police if we didn’t pay - we said we would pay for what we had eaten. But this wasn’t enough, my father in law said please call the police and offered his full details. But he didn’t call them. So we then went to leave and were told we couldn’t until we paid for our food. Obviously terrified of not getting paid. We paid as we said we would and still got a barrage of abuse. I have never seen staff so embarrassed At what happened this evening and I hope this deters anyone from making the same mistake we did

Booked in for 4 nights for a short break with my partner. She is a full time carer for her disabled daughter, so we wanted somewhere she could just relax for a few days and this was definitely the place, The new owners explained they had only been there since July, and they were incredibly friendly and welcoming, as were all the staff. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced, and great atmosphere in the bar in the evenings, a really friendly and helpful bunch of regular locals in there, loved it. Pendoggett is ideally situated for easy access to virtually all the places of interest in north Cornwall, including Port Isaac, Tintagel, Boscastle, Padstow etc, an ideal base. The new owner explained that at the end of the season they will be doing extensive refurbishing, very much looking forward to another visit next year.

We were returning to this area for a walking holiday around Port Issac and were recommend the Cornish Arms which is very close by. We stayed in a double room which was very clean and comfortable after a day’s long walking. The location is great close to Port Issac, Port Quin and Lundy Bay. We based ourselves in Cornish Arms for 4 nights and I could not fault the place. Great food and really accommodating staff who helped us with lunches. Seems to use a lot of local produce and beer which was refreshing to see. We had three dinners which I couldn’t fault for value and quality given the other option available. Definitely returning in later November .
