Stayed here for a weekend with my husband. Stunning location and beautiful rooms with the most amazing views. We were in one of the lakeside lodges which was gorgeous. Very well equipped with braai facilities and everything one could need in the kitchen and bedroom. The drive is accessible with a car but the recent rains made me happy that...

We stayed two nights at the Sani Valley Lodge and booked the Misty Morning Lodge. The surroundings are just beautiful and view from the logde is impressing. Rooms were tiny and clean. But we were a bit upset about the difference of the parents room (beautiful view, nice bed,...) and the childrens room (two old beds, very small room, no...

Dear XdamaX Thank you for your review and the compliments on the views. I hope you meant tidy and clean and not tiny and clean :) With regards to the small room at the back, Early Mist was essentially designed as a honeymoon suite with the addition of a small room at the back so that we could accommodate small...

My only negative comment about this place is that they could really do with levelling the camp spots for tents - we are a bit old and creaky and find it hard tosleep on a slant - because it was quiet we managed to find a spot Lodge itself is soooo lovely, mixture of nationalities, games and books and information...

We stayed at Sani Valley Lodge for 2 nights. This lodge has an amazingly beautiful setting with views that left us in awe! 3 lakes on the property where you can fish, game roaming around freely (zebras, blesbok, rooihartbees, springbok & eland). We enjoyed a boat ride on the main lake, horse back safari and a trip up Sani Pass...

We arrived in a weekend that snow was announced. And snowing it did in our first night! We were a bit unprepared for this as we had not enough food with us. Also we were driving in a regular car, not a 4x4, which is not recommended in this type of weather. The staff was very helpful in guiding us...

Breakfast is served in a separate chalet next to the lake with large choice and excellent food. The open windows in rooms ans bathrooms are just amazing to wake up...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sani Valley Lodge and Hotel is a private nature reserve only 2 hours from Durban. It sits within the dramatic Drakensberg mountain range, borders the World Heritage Site and is the closest luxury accommodation to the famous Sani Pass. The reserve accommodates couples, families and small groups, all with the choice of full & self catering. Within the valley sits one of the largest privately owned lakes in South Africa, which is surrounded by a variety of antelope, zebra, baboons and other wildlife. It is one of the very few animal reserves in the Drakensberg, further enhanced by the vast lake which attracts unparalleled birdlife. The fishing is well renowned with regional records being attributed to the size of the lake. This is the prefect place to relax and have fun. One can indulge in a massage, be taught how to fly fish, go otter spotting by canoe, lounge in the Jacuzzi, be taken game viewing on horse back, drive a 4X4 up the famous Sani Pass, hike to the Bushmen paintings and more. Come visit. It's an experience you'll never forget! ... more   less
