Lovely hotel with roomsfacing the sea which was beautiful the rooms were nice and kept clean the whole time we were there two pools one outside and an indoor one food was good staff all friendly couldn't fault it in any way of you like peace and quiet is idea for you
Three star hotel with with aspirations for four stars. Staff is great and I mean it! Most open and helpful people. Great place to stay if you want to travel and not to be overwhelmed by excessive number of tourists. It's close from there to any location one might imagine to visit being on Madeira. Greatly recommended!
We were supposed to stay two nights but as soon as we entered the room we decided to shortened our stay. The lady at the reception was very nice and the staffs in breakfast room were very nice as well. This hotel is old, the room that we had is at almost at the end of the building infront of the tennis court. Dark and damp, smell like it has not been opened for a long time, bedsheets are yellowish and bath towels have holes. Paints on the door and the cabinets are chipped. WE did not use the swimmingpool neither other facility (jacuzzi was closed anyway). Wifi in the room was extremely slow. There is no neither refrigerator neither coffee/tea making facility in the room. In short, you pay only the room to sleep. So we decided to move to other hotel at 15 minutes of drive from there... the same price but you have many perks... Maderian cocktail welcome drink, a bottle of Maderian wine and free mineral water in your room, discount voucher for restaurants, free entrance to the natural swimming pool, you have a sparkling white bath robe free jacuzzi and sauna access, nice breakfast while enjoying a stunning sea view and excellent staffs.…
The hotel itself is excellent in respect of location, amenities & the staff who were fantastic, all speaking English. However the rooms lacked both tea/coffee making facilities & a small refrigerator in which to keep cold drinks & the safe had only a key which had to be carried around (rather than a digital type pin input). The breakfasts were fine but sometimes the evening meals were disappointing as choice was limited & the meat was tough & required longer cooking. Went the last week of September & a few days misty with drizzly rain & pool cold, but there was an indoor pool. A hire car is advisable for sightseeing.
Just got back from this place and glad to eat some decent food. The hotel itself is good, room was a twin room with good amenities but lacked a few essentials such as tea/coffee facilities, mini fridge for cold drinks. Once evening meal was over there was nowhere to get a cup of tea, so making one in my room would have been great. Room was very clean and quite spacious, Bathroom was spacious, well stocked with soap, shampoo and towels. Biggest issue for us was dining room, there was no allocated seating and it was a hectic affair trying to find a table which was available. Many tables were cluttered with used crockery. Once seated, we had to go to buffet bar to select our food which was always just warm and never hot, this was both breakfast and dinner, some of the dishes were empty which meant having to wait for them to be refilled and then the food quality was always mediocre and overcooked, the toaster gradually failed and only one toaster for the whole hotel was not good and it only half worked. the staff were okay but not very helpful, I found that we were always waiting for something. In the evening, it took ages to get a drink and sometimes we had finished our meals before the drinks arrived. Overall, the hotel is in a good quiet location , nice swimming pools, sauna and jacuzzi, nice grounds, fantastic views and sunsets, but lacks the real quality of a holiday hotel and missing the few essentials needed to make it complete. Probably would go elsewhere next time.…
