We booked this hotel for a ten night stay to recharge the battery's and on our arrival this was found to be the perfect place. With breath taking views and the sound of the waves and all rooms being sea views the only thing missing for me was a Jack Daniels and coke but after repeatedly asking I ended up walking to the local supermarket which is only a 5min walk away and purchased myself,After a few days I noticed many people were doing the same.
Breakfast was always well replenished with a good variety and always warm and cooked well but the orange had no juice and wasn't the best.
Evening meal was found to be the same standard always hot and different varieties through the week.
The staff are mostly friendly but there is always one that stand out and that was pedro always polite with a smile from under his mask with was always worn even stopped and said hello while we was out in the village for a walk.
Hotel is always clean along with rooms but some attention needed outside as some ignorant people just leave the rubbish lying around masks/ cigarette butts and gloves from the dinner room.
Hand sanitizer and glove are supposed to be used when serving your own dinner but unfortunately this was failed to be enforced early enough on new arrivals as on some occasions it wasn't acted on until the scavengers went back for their second or third visit SHAME.
This would be the perfect adults only hotel as their is absolutely nothing for children to do apart from run around in circles.
Pool table wasn't seen to be in use and no upstairs bar neither but with restrictions easing this will soon change. Internet was always very good never had a problem all around hotel,Local shops are very friendly and food and drinks not over priced.
Would we stay again probably not only but only because we prefer adults only and all inclusive but this hotel truly has a breathtaking views and friendly faces perfect for couples

Vegetarians be advised you should inspect the advertised “Vegetarian Dish” before deciding whether or not to go to the dinner buffet. Staff were gracious and kind and put it right, but the food standard should have been better in the first place, and surely they must have known this. One simply shouldn’t have to ask, but the chef will make other vegetarian options if asked. They had no business serving a cold over-boiled bag of frozen vegetables and calling it a main course on the menu next to the reception area. Fortunately, the creamy vegetable soup was delicious and the desserts were outstanding. Staff were apologetic and kind, but I feel like if no one says anything, then many guests will continue to put up with this as a side dish and the kitchen will think that what they are providing is acceptable.

I think it’s only fair to mention in their favour, that I noticed at breakfast that there was a small but separate Gluten Free area. The mainstream breakfast was good and had a lot of variety, including whole pieces of fruit.

The receptionists were delightful and friendly. There seemed to always be someone on duty, and they were approachable. There was good communication—the receptionist in the morning already knew about our meal the night before.

The room was clean and exactly as expected with a lovely view and balcony. I wish the beds had been made up as a double, as requested, rather than two side by side twins. Maybe it’s a Madeira thing, as this isn’t the only place this happened. My bed was comfy and I got a good night’s sleep accompanied by the sound of the waves.

It was a good hotel with nice and friendly staff. The pools are clean and the food is good so far. Only the behaviour of some of the other guests leaves something to be desired - and that is education...

Otherwise we were very pleased. Going to sleep with the sound of the waves is cool! And São Vicente is a good place to have a home base because the rest of the island is easily reachable from there.

It is small and quiet though so it's not suited for people craving night life.
Be sure to visit the beach in Seixal!

We were supposed to stay two nights but as soon as we entered the room we decided to shortened our stay. The lady at the reception was very nice and the staffs in breakfast room were very nice as well. This hotel is old, the room that we had is at almost at the end of the building infront of the tennis court. Dark and damp, smell like it has not been opened for a long time, bedsheets are yellowish and bath towels have holes. Paints on the door and the cabinets are chipped. WE did not use the swimmingpool neither other facility (jacuzzi was closed anyway). Wifi in the room was extremely slow. There is no neither refrigerator neither coffee/tea making facility in the room. In short, you pay only the room to sleep. So we decided to move to other hotel at 15 minutes of drive from there... the same price but you have many perks... Maderian cocktail welcome drink, a bottle of Maderian wine and free mineral water in your room, discount voucher for restaurants, free entrance to the natural swimming pool, you have a sparkling white bath robe free jacuzzi and sauna access, nice breakfast while enjoying a stunning sea view and excellent staffs.

Amazing stay 15 August until 25
What an amazing hotel the sweeping seaview ,amazing circular pool, friendly and helpful staff.one of our suitcases did not arrive and the staff on reception were sympathetic and kept us informed they should get a medal
We cannot remember her name but she helped us with the lost luggage and changing rooms on the 15 August - we want to give her lots of praise for being a great help throughout the stay.
The buffet dinner was amazing and reasonable priced, clean rooms with air con.
The club Sandwich be warned at lunch is enormous great to much for one person, while sipping a cool drink looking out over the ocean -was it a dream!
Breakfast buffet wow think Hawaii and thunderbird Tracy island and that is the view while tucking into your breakfast
If you want to really get away and chill, feel safe and relax with good food and a welcoming and attentive staff ,this is the place.

Very good and cozy hotel near the Atlantic ocean. The room was small but good, it was missing a fridge though. The food was very delicious. Staff was kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is in a comfortable place, there is a bus stop nearby, but the best way to travel around Madeira is to rent a car from the hotel.

We only stayed here 1 night and that was okay. The hotel was okay but nothing more than that. Clean. Great location next to the ocean. Fantastic view.
We went to the little pizzeria 300 m from the hotel to dine cause the buffet on the hotel was not our taste.

The hotel is okay for 1 night but we were glad that us was just that. Maybe the feeling would be better in the summertime.

This is a lovely hotel in a nice peaceful setting right by the sea. Whatever room you have there is a sea view and it is amazing. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful especially Lydia and Thiago in the restaurant. We stayed bed and breakfast but we did have a few evening meals which we paid for and were very nice. It is a buffet but everything was nicely presented. There is not a lot of night life here but that suited us fine but we did frequent a bar called Porto de Abrigo most nights which actually sold Alt beer which is a bitter and not a lager. You can also taste local Madeira wines for free if you want to. It is run by Raphael and Carlos who were very nice and friendly. We did go to Funchal for the day and went on the cable car ride and the toboggan ride and that was fun. This hotel is very quiet and probably would not suit you if you have children as there is not a lot for them to do. The only disappointment for us was that the Jacuzzi was not working during our two week stay which is one of the reasons why I booked this hotel. The Receptionist said they are waiting for a part. Also there is no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. However the room was nice and clean and has good air conditioning. I cannot fault this hotel it is lovely and I would definitely stay here again and would definitely recommend it!

Three star hotel with with aspirations for four stars. Staff is great and I mean it! Most open and helpful people. Great place to stay if you want to travel and not to be overwhelmed by excessive number of tourists. It's close from there to any location one might imagine to visit being on Madeira. Greatly recommended!

Just stayed two nights at the Estalagem Do Mar. We first called in for a coffee to check it out. There was nobody else in the bar, so there was not much atmosphere, and the table had crumbs stuck inside it, so I was a little put off; this made us travel East along the North coast to find another hotel. After a long and windy journey through the mountains, we did not find anything, so we headed back to the Estalagem, thinking we would just stay one night. We went up to reception and asked for a couple of single rooms. As there were no singles, we were given doubles; the hotel also had a promotion and it was only 25 Euros a night each with breakfast. We were told that the hotel was 'pretty full' but on the contary we did not see many people, and the bar upstairs remained empty; maybe it is busier later in the season. We checked out the rooms and found that they were really super, very clean, with a balcony straight onto the sea which was only a few yards away, and a direct view of the mountains. As we were so impressed with the rooms, we at once booked another night. We also had free use of the sauna and indoor swimming pool, and also the jacuzzi; all nice and warm, and when we used them virtually nobody came in. The staff were contrary to another review really friendly and helpful, even when they had worked the early morning shift and the late evening in the restaurant. As it was February the staff kindly put a portable radiator in our rooms, and there are extra blankets

Breakfast was ok with some hot items, like some cute little fried or poached eggs, and it's self serve. The view from the restaurant is magnificent. Later that night we had a meal of sea bass which was actually cooked to perfection, and the vegetable soup tasted freshly made. Dessert was a bit of a let down with the very old fashioned arrival of the 'sweet trolley' and not much choice; there is an old fashioned feel to the place but dont let that put you off for a moment
I would definitely recommend this hotel for a couple of days, mainly for the amazing views from the rooms, closeness to the very verbal ocean, the facilities, and the location to other points on the island; from here you can travel south, west or east easily.

Bonjour Ximmy. le centre ville est à moins de 1km de l'hotel. Sinon il y a quelques commerces à moins de 500m. Pour le bus je ne sais pas car j'avais loué une voiture pendant mon séjour. Bonne journée Nathalie
