We had not booked and we were the last space in the car park, which suggested it might be both popular and therefore busy. This was intended as a quick business lunch, but it was so much better than I could have imagined. We were not on too tight a timescale so we took in the three course lunch and... More

I met some friends here as it's a half way point and it's in a village just off the A1 so a great location. We met for a drink before lunch and even at 11.30am the bar/lounge area was very busy. My friends had hot chocolate which they said was lovely and came with a yummy shortbread biscuit. We then... More

We stayed here on a dinner bed breakfast rate. It was great value. I have reviewed restaurant separately but can say the hotel is a comfortable good value option. Rooms are well furnished but simple. Recommended.

As Buckden is fairly small the choice of hotels is slim. We decided to opt for the more expensive hotel. We were not disappointed. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. The rooms are themed and nicely decorated with quality linens and products. Breakfast was one of the best I have had in a long time, with fabulous menu... More

We stopped here for a bar meal at lunchtime today. It was fairly busy. There's a limited menu for bar snacks, a wider menu for the main restaurant I guess. The prices are quite steep, but you do get what you pay for. I had a delicious homemade beef burger with Parma ham and Brie, in a sesame bun. It... More

Little pricey but as a local I love having somewhere a little more upmarket to go for a treat. Food and wine is fab, also love to frequent for a cocktail in the evening. Never stayed here but would love to sometime for a special treat. Staff are always attentive. Place is spotlessly clean.

We have visited this restaurant for lunch before but this was by far our best experience. First class food and service. An added bonus is the boutique next door! Couldn't think of any reason to fault either.

We needed a Sunday night stopover at quite short notice. My partner had seen this hotel previously and liked the look of it so we thought we'd take the opportunity to try The George. It was well worth it. The staff were very helpful. The rate included a free paper and breakfast for the both of us making it very... More

I have stayed before with business and never been disapointed. This is truly a wonderful hotel. This time round I was in the Gershwin room which was right at the back of the hotel. Because of its location I pretty much had zero wifi and was unable to log on and work. The room, although stunning, was also a bit... More

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Please accept my apologies you found the room cold and the wifi connection poor. The heating is switched on at the mains supply, so perhaps the radiator was turned off by the previous guest. Unfortunately, ourselves and other buildings in the street have been encountering wifi problems over the last few... More

Celebrating a birthday we booked well in advance. Arriving early we were shown straight to our table, (we were given the choice to sit in the bar for a drink prior to going to the table). The menu was simple and brief, but with a good choice for all. The staff were attentive but not too much and the food... More
