We often visit this restaurant which is linked to a very fine boutique hotel and excellent fashion shopping experience. We have never been disappointed with our food whether it is a snack or a main meal. The presentation and quality of the food is very good and the price is reasonable for the service and ambience that we receive.

Having visited Buckden several times before, we had always intended to visit The George for a meal as it looked so nice. We booked lunch on a Saturday and, having arrived early, had a drink in the very airy and attractive bar / lounge area. We were shown through to our table in the adjoining, restaurant which had lots of...

We have eaten at the The George many times for lunch in the lounge and early dinner in the restaurant. Yesterday we meet friends for dinner in the restaurant, which was excellent. The food is extremely good and the staff and service excellent in every way. The setting is lovely and ideal if you have a special occasion to celebrate,...

Upon arrival, the appetite is always whetted by the glorious building. The setting is warm, comfortable and classy enough for special-occasion-dining. However, for a Friday night, the place seemed a little flat. We approached the bar, and the somewhat reluctant barman housed behind it, and ordered some drinks. The barman was quite disobliging, almost as if he was trying too...

This is the second time I have used the George. Everything was good, ambience, staff and food. I will certainly go again. This time it was a celebratory lunch with my wife and two old friends. Only problem is parking.

As always delicious food, lovely service and I like the choice of formal or informal dining. Lovely for ladies (and gentlemen) who lunch. We plan to go for dinner next time after looking at their menu.

Popped in on the way back from work and had a artichoke soup - very nice, sat by the fire and felt very special. Booked for Sunday lunch with my parents. All had a different starter , crayfish and salmon was good, goats cheese tart looked good. Roasts, pig belly and fish cakes . Beef could have been better but...

A short break after a hectic Christmas and new year, our 2nd over night stay at The George. It was perfect, from arriving to departure , nothing was too much trouble - staff friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks and the special touches ( especially the pots of tea) top notch. It is the sort of place you feel...

We have stopped here when travelling up the A1 on a couple of occasions and always found the lunch to be excellent. It is close to the A1 and so doesn't mean much of a detour to have a really good break and good food. Do yourself a favour, avoid the roadside places and try here

We stayed at the George for four nights over Christmas and also had Christmas lunch here. I grew up in this village but have not lived here for over twenty years. The George has come on leaps and bounds since then. The rooms are quaint which is what we expected, spotlessly clean and with beautiful linens and toiletries. The room...
