Our trip to the Ecogites lodge was wonderful. We rented the 3 cabins and 2 yurts each of which was delightful in its own way. All accommodations are steps from a beautiful beach and the cabins have hot tubs built into the decks. The owners are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna (especially mushrooms!). They certainly helped make our stay very relaxing. The lodge is located at the end of a well maintained dirt road which is easy to drive down. It is very accessible but remote enough to enjoy peace and quiet and no other people to disturb your stay. The grounds are kept very nicely, the boardwalk is atmospheric and the lake is fresh for swimming, fishing and other activities. Each cabin is beautiful inside with comfortable beds, showers, toilets, and lounge areas. The views from the cabins are great and they can comfortably accommodate 4-6 people. The yurt structures offer you a luxury camping style accommodation and they are well built. We enjoyed staying in all the accommodations. I would highly recommend this Ecogites for a short or long stay. We had the best time!…
This place is really amazing and most definitely worth the drive up from Montreal! We spent some time here in July and again in August to destress and spend some time in the beautiful boreal forest... The Chalet we stayed in was really beautifully constructed, all wood and windows with excellent views on to Lac Matagami. We swam, fished and relaxed and at the end of the day we soaked in the wood fired cedar hot tub......what a joy! Thanks so much to Trinh and Pierre for a wonderful stay and a wonderful experience!
I spent the night here on my way to Radisson. I had found it online didn't know what to expect but it sounded cool. It was truly awesome. The cabin was chic, toasty warm (thanks to the fireplace), comfy, and came with a world-class view of Lac Matagami, through the trees. The setting is tranquil and beautiful. The couple who runs it are SUPER nice and totally accommodating. And there's nothing like walking to the beach in the pitch dark to watch the northern lights reflected on the lake. A surprising find in the middle of nowhere. I had no mobile phone service and there was no wifi in the cabins, although there was in the kitchen tent. Just a wonderful place to spend a night on your way WAY up north; or to unwind for a week if you're looking for peace and quiet.
