Very helpful staff - everyone was on their feet when the lock to our room broke. And it was our own stupid fault. Secluded place - you'll feel cozy and will be able to enjoy the view undisturbed. You get what you pay for, but I would say there's more to it than that. Recommended.

We stayed over at Viewpoint for 3 nights and for the price that we pay, it's totally worth it. Bare in mind that this is not a luxury hotel as the neighboring resorts around it (Serendipity/Idyllic/Castaway) But for the lil feeling of being on a private beach instead of the more crowded part of the Sunrise beach, Viewpoint could just be the perfect place for you. I agree on the reviews by others on this place, you cant expect much but it'll definitely a good choice if you're on budget or prefer to spend more on other stuff (snorkeling trips/food etc) There are 2 types of bungalows - the newer ones right on the smack of the beach & the older ones which is few steps uphill, but both are in good condition with towels provided (not daily though) & mozzi net. There is a restaurant at the main building but we never bother having meals there since there are more to choose at the Walking Street (around 10-15mins walk).

We stayed at Viewpoint after checking out of Serendipty - which was lovely but very expensive. Viewpoint shares the same small cove, but the advantage is the new bungalows are right on the beach, whereas the rooms at serendipty are high up. The room was immaculate with mossi net and fan. Each morning the beach was cleaned by the staff of Viewpoint (not serendipty) and we saw no litter while there. You do not need aircon as lovely seabreezes on this side of the island. You get a peaceful nights sleep. Who cares about the service you pay for the room it is not a hotel, they also have a nice clean and cheap beachside cafe, . This property is owned by local chao leh, they do not speak much english, but the chao leh community on the island have had their land taken by developers and fat cats so we were more than happy to give them our money. - we sat on our balcony with a heavenly view,- couldn't ask for anything more - it was idyllic. You can keep your five star aircon hotels and resorts and service. We stayed all over Thailand - and we kept pinching ourselves with such a find on a beautiful island.
