My boyfriend and I stayed here after a day of hiking on the Kumano Kodo trail. The room was reserved for us by the company that arranged the hike, but we were very happy to stay here. It appears to be a small family-run place (operated by a man & wife, and their son & daughter-in-law) that felt like a... More

the owners were a bit shy, but very welcoming though, not much english but helpful, the dinner and breakfast were really amazing ! No aircon, but not a big issue We wanted to go to the onsen, it was not nearby, they offered to give us a lift there, so kind ! For those who do the kumano trail, this... More

The room was excellent and so was the onsen. Since I was the only female staying there the night, I had the onsen to myself and it was heavenly. The food was the high-point of my stay here. As one of the other travelers mentioned, they put soft tofu in boiling water along with fresh mushrooms, noodles and chicken and... More

My wife and I hiked about 8 miles of the Kumano Kodo prior to arriving at this minshuku. Let me tell you it was SO nice to be able to relax in the onsen right after arriving. After getting out of the hot water, the relaxation continued while wearing our yukata and walking around the picturesque location in the valley.... More

The property is great (nice onsen, traditional Japanese sleepwear, and Japanese bedding) but the food is fantastic! For dinner we had a tofu soup, sashimi, eggplant, fried rice and cecum with sweet miso. The owners are so friendly and hospitable. My brother and Ioved this place!

The great things are the location, owners friendliness, the food and the cleanliness of the place. However, this place is one of the few available in this little town, so that puts then in a position to set a noticeable price tag. What I disliked, is the fact that the tourist organisation in Tanabe, whom we booked this through, charges... More

The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming, the rooms very large and comfortable. The bathing and onsen facilities were good. The hidden surprise was the superb dinner and breakfast we had - really excellent.

A very pleasant family-run minshuku in Chikatsuyu on the Kumano Kodo trail. Rooms are smallish but all you need to lay out your futon for the evening. The inn is in a secluded area away from the centre of the village, so it's quiet at night. The onsen is next door and has good, minerally water. Open the windows and... More

We stayed here for one night whilst walking the Kumano Kodo trail. The family running the minshuku could not have been more welcoming. They went out of their way to prepare a vegetarian meal for one of our party and to explain all of the lovely dishes that had been cooked for our evening meal. They also spent time after... More

The tourist office (great one!) of Tanabe organised this minshuku for us, only a day before. They gave us a A4 paper with all the information needed about this guesthouse. It was very easy to find it once we arrived in Chikatsuyu thanks to the map we had been given. We were 2, and they gave us a room apparently for... More
