I stayed here while walking the Kumano Kodo. It was my least favorite out of the four I stayed at. Room was was worn and not as clean as other similar places I stayed at. Dinner was ok, but not nearly as expertly prepared. Not many places to stay, so you have limited choices. Notwithstanding my comments, I heard others... More

This a good traditional inn. Great food and location. The outdoor onsen is private and heavenly. My biggest issue with this place is the lack of a private bathroom, If you want to take a shower, the only option is to use the showers in the shared onsen area. Also the owners dont speak much English, a combination of google... More

Yunomine is a beautiful quaint village, this ryokan has its own private outdoor onsen, complete with garden . Also has internal ( male & female ) onsen, and the UNESCO oldest known onsen is a few metres down the road. Dinner and breakfast are excellent , plenty of variety supplied. The bedroom is large, but smelled a little musty.

For a traditional Japanese experience you can't go passed this place. I stayed here for one night whilst doing the Kumano Kodo. It is right next to the path and the Tsbonoyu - the oldest onsen in Japan. The clean neat tatami rooms overlook the hot spring. The owners went out of their way to assist me in planning my... More

I stayed here for one night as part of my Kumano Kodo hike (Tikijiri > Nanako Sanso > Hongu/Yunomine and last day Ukegawa to Nachi Falls via Koguchi). My positives and negatives: + For Kumano Kodo hikers: the location is great. Very close to the path (the Hongu-Yunomine path that is; the bathroom area actually looks on to the path).... More

This ryokan is easy to find after a long day of hiking. As soon as we arrived, the owner showed us around the grounds, including the private outdoor onsen, and then to our room. We paid a bit extra for the room with en-suite western toilet which was nice to have. The view from our room was great as well,... More

First, the Ryokan is the nicest, cleanest, most fantastic food and onsen (hot mineral bath). Our family was walking the Kumano Kodo trail and 3 of our party got stuck out in the mountains in the pouring rain and got lost. The owner of this ryokan took me in his own vehicle to search for them in the rain and... More

We stayed at this excellent Ryokan last week for two nights and it was fantastic! We booked it through KUMANO TRAVEL, Tanabe City Kumano Tourism Bureau 727-2 Minato, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture ad they were great to deal with – we were fortunate to be able to plan the trip through Kumano Travel and Brad Towle in particular who has... Couple were not friendly, did not even bother to say good-bye. Man was always hurried and harassed and you had to ring a bell on the desk to call him. They were not readily available. Sink was in the corridor where people pass. Toilet was not en suite. Showers could be reached only from a steep step of stairs. Sashimi... More

Enjoyed a one night stay here in October after walking three days along Kumano Kodo. A smaller room than my other accommodation, which was fine as I was travelling alone. It still had everything i needed. Very clean, loved the private onsen. Food was also good. The hotel has free wifi but the signal was very weak at my end... More
