We stayed here again last week. It was lovely to go back.
The scenery around there is truly special, as you drive through the mountains, especially on a misty day. The hotel lies in the beautiful Tachikue gorge, and although the best season is during the Autumn when the colour of the leaves change, it is still very special all year round.
The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere, with nice touches, such as the display of old furniture in the lobby and stairway, and ladies can choose their yukata. The food is very healthy, with most of the ingredients locally sourced, including rare mountain plants and grasses.
There are male and female baths, and a number of individual private baths are available. All or most have views of the gorge.
As well as the hotel guests, the baths are available to use for a charge, booking during the visit by reporting to the front desk. The restaurant can also be booked for food only I think, in advance.
