We went for the Hot Spring Communal Baths. I didn't go to the baths but my husband, did as well as our host. They have a salt scrub that he absolutely went crazy about. Very modern design with beautiful views.
I think it's more a Japanese travel thing. Didn't see any other Americans or Europeans. There is a golf course next door. Our hotel was in Kyoto proper so we don't know about the hotel itself. It seemed very clean and the staff were very hospitable. It's nice to go in the Fall when the leaves are all turning colors. Spectacular!

“We did not stay at the hotel but the communal bath and springs were a great experience. It's a little drive from Kyoto but the drive up the mountain is beautiful. Look for the raccoon dogs.....”
