We stayed for 4 nights in this wonderful hotel across the moat from Hikone Castle. Our 5th floor castle view room was not huge but the view made up for it - especially in the evening when the castle is lit up. Practically on the castle grounds, it's a short walk to the entrance - recommend doing both the castle...

After a few weeks of work and big cities sought a small town respite. The castle is fabulous. try to get a room with a view but you probably won't spend much time there if your western. It's a nice place with a perfect onsen, but not natural. It's a bit classy. Breakfast is fantastic . They give you robes....

We had a fabulous 2-day stay in this spa hotel. The staff were wonderful - warm, helpful, caring. The facilities are amazing! The rooms are gracious and large for a Japanese hotel. (We stayed in 5 other hotels in Japan this trip, and these rooms -- small by US standards -- were among the largest and most gracious.) The appointments...

Lovely 5 story hotel located across the street from the moat of Hikone castle. Rooms facing the castle have a great view of the castle and moat walls. (Please request a room facing the castle on the 4th or 5th floor.) The staff is helpful; they speak little English but enough for you to get by. Nice well equipped rooms...

Hikone is a small town and the hotel is right across from the famous castle. Views are particularly dramatic on the second floor lounge, particularly at night. Breakfast is well done with plenty of fish recipes. The room is a bit small, comparable to European hotels. Clean with std features, not luxurious but not Spartan either. Missed the spa experience...

I've always loved this little hotel at the base of the Shogun's castle in Hikone Japan . Recently they did a great deal of remodeling and upgrading to the hotel. The entrance, lobby , lobby restaurant have all been completely redone. Very welcoming and fitting of the Castle next door. Room upgrades include the refresh of the decor and the...

Stayed only one night, but very impressed by the level of friendly, courteous service. Will stay again when in Hikone. Rooms are business hotel small. The onsen baths, however, overlook the castle! Fabulous. The breakfast was also excellent. Best salad greens I had in Japan; ditto local the ume-shiso dressing. Had the Japanese breakfast, but there were breads etc for...

改装されて、とても素敵なホテルです。 A newly refurbished hotel and spa, some of whose rooms command awe-inspiring Hikone Castle. Their restaurant serves amazingly lip-smacking dishes. They might not the most luxurious but you can experience authentic local foods. Their massage service is also highly recommended. The technique is nothing but professional. Good to stay in Hikone, a very average Japanese city, for a couple...
