Convenient Location. Close to famous histrical place of Onsen 100 years ago. Also only 5minutes drive from main station. But Onsen (Bath) is not worth traveling. There are only 2baths (indoor/outdoor) then one is too hot and the other one is not hot enough. They don't serve meals to rooms. You have to go to dinning room. Severs are not professional. (a few were good but mostly not good) We stayed 2nd floor. It was very noisy due to big noises from kitchen (maybe..)

We were pleased with the night that we spent in the Kyotoya. The front desk and restaurant staff could not have been nicer. Although their English was limited and our Japanese even more so, they were welcoming and warm. The room was large with a lovely view and the futons were comfortable. The onsen in the hotel was beautiful - both inside and outside baths are available. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and the servers attentive. The lobby is full of interesting artifacts and the hotel is an easy 10 minute walk from the train station. Yes, the ryokan is old and the bathrooms could be updated, but it is clean, spacious and comfortable. We had no complaints and would stay again.

Went there with my wife early March. The hotel is pretty old - good if you are looking for a hotel with retro feeling. Service was good and staff is helpful. The hotel do provide transport with antique toyota car (which is like the "highlight" of the stay). The onsen bath is comfortable during early winter time too. If you are not looking for these extra points perhaps the hotel is a bit pricier than you would expect.

This place has seen better times. The place is clean, but everything is really old, the carpets are worn, the air-conditioning is old, the bathroom could do with a refurbishment. Service was friendly and helpful. The staff could speak decent English. The onset is ok, but I have been in nicer ones. An outside pool, an inside pool and a steam sauna are available. Again, they have seen better days. Breakfast was not great at all! It actually was the worst meal I have had in two months travelling in Japan! Juts not prepared with a lot of care. Stodgy rice. Boring dashi. A tasteless miso soup. For the price I expect more: Better food and a hotel that is in better shape!

We stayed here in order to go to Arita for the ceramics. Such a beautiful room! Traditional Japanese style with tatami mats, sliding doors etc. The Onsen style bathroom is also beautiful. Yukata & room Slippers provided (Don't take the toilet slippers anywhere but the toilet). The breakfast was interesting and plentiful though there were a few components we couldn't recognise. The in-house onsen was traditional with fully nude bathing & gender separated; and was open all night(!) The staff are very helpful, and gave us a lift to the station once we'd checked out (in their classic car - the same one seen in their profile picture on booking.com) Only slight downside was that this was our first time sleeping on futons so found them/the floor a bit hard. Be aware that the pillows are double sided! (one side like bean bag & 1 soft side). Also the surrounding area is really quiet.
