Great View, Charming
NUMBER OF ROOMS
4th night - in Ureshino. This hotel is just by the river, very beautiful and decent! There are two hot-spring bath locations, the public one could be shared with their sister hotels, so very crowded and noisy for me! But the other one sole for lodgers, I like this one! Dinner and breakfast were well prepared by the chef, everything was so delicious!
I was self drive to the onsen. It gave me a deep impression that I stopped at the riverside onsen instead of at the onsen hotel. A gentleman greeted me warmly with smiles on his face. I was so amazing that he recogized my name. He was Kagannogi San, he introduced himself to me, and he could speak both Cantonese and Mandarin. I was misled that I booked with the Onsen an one night two meals package that the dinner was a Meat Buffet All You Can Eat. As I am a meat-free diet., by then I found out exactly what the content of the dinner was.The receptionist refused to have any change while checked in. We then went to the riverside onsen to enjoy our bath where Mr. Kagannogi was the receptionist. When he knew clearly the case, he helped me to change the dinner to Kaiseki cuisine. Many thanks to Mr. Kagannogi that we could have sashimi that night. My wife could enjoy Saga beef and I had a cooked fish instead. Overall the service was good. The quality of the onsen was excellent. The enviroment of the hotel was so peaceful that one could fully relaxe himself. Highly recommend to the Tofu and the roasted tea that are both famous for Ureshino.…
日帰りの温泉利用です。嬉野温泉の中心部からは離れた場所にあります。山々に囲まれているので明るいうちに露天風呂を楽しむことをお勧めします。 It is located away from the center of Ureshino Onsen. Because it is surrounded by mountains, we recommend you to enjoy the outdoor bath while it is bright.
We stayed one night at Shiibasanso (and booked one of the rooms next to the river. Being in the midst of nature is one of the best relaxation one can ask for. Service and food are very good, especially the tofu (must try!). The bath at sister ryokan (Taishoya) is a little disappointing but the one at Seiryuu (2 mins walk up the slope from Shiibasanso is amazing!
This 椎葉山荘 Shiibasanso ryokan is probably one of the most expensive ones in Ureshino. It is a beautiful little ryokan next to the stream. I don't think it will ever be crowded as it is quite pricey and tour groups are unlikely to come here (which is a good thing). The onsens are great and never too crowded. I find the set dinner and breakfast of superb quality. We only have one complain - the smell of mould especially dense at the entrance to the room. It can do with a bit of upgrading in my opinion but don't think they can afford to do high standard maintenance as Kyushu is not like the main tourist-infested Hokkaido or Kyoto with high traffic (more tourists = more budget).
