Stay here last summer. Love the view from my room so much, at night everything is quiet so I could here the sound of the ocean. The dinner was big and delicious. The breakfasr was limited choices but good. Overall the hotel is quite old, the pool need renovation and let the guests enjoy it. The staff was very kind.
Stayed here in July (during monsoon season, not recommended time!), and I was very disappointed. The rooms are very very dated and in need of urgent refurbishment. The breakfast is average at best. The only saving grace is the beautiful views and location. Although there is absolutely nothing nearby to eat anything and Okinawa main city is easily over an hour away.
Resort leaves a western tourist dissatisfiesd. Although views are amazing, the rooms are bit worn out, there’s only one restaurant with very limited opening hours and menu (even though they claim to have two restaurants, the other one is closed, only okinawan food available) and no proper pool that could actually be used. The resort is far away from other services like restaurants, coffeeshops or convenience stores. Beaches are quite ok, small. There were people staying overnight on the besches in tents... Nice place to visit, but you’ll find better in Okinawa.
This hotel is a gem. Views from room and from lobby and so great you just want to sit down and sip tea looking for hours Breakfast and dinner are cosy and sumptuous. There was a young vibe to service. We walked down to beach, which was Hawaii quality with warm water so clean and clear. This is one of our favorite beaches in Okinawa
Overall very nice holiday of 9 nights, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful views, almost private beach. Staff helpful and friendly, though not very good English skills except one person, who spoke excellent English and was very helpful. Only real downside was the breakfast, which was nice and decent variety of Japanese and western dishes, but service bowls and platters were often empty and when refilled, portions were so tiny that they were soon again empty. In practise, they were empty if you were not among the first guests having breakfast.
Got the Agu pork Katsu at the restaurant. Delish!! Good service and Food! Just a hidden gem on the other islands. Make sure to reserve a room advanced to get good rates. The view is breathtaking and spectacular. Definitely a must go for special Dinners with spouse or friends. In my opinion best linch view in Okinawa!
Stayed in the hotel for one night with family. It is a very small place just like Hamahigashima itself. Small number of rooms and less popular location means a great deal of peace and privacy which is the reason why I opted for it in the first place Plus + Fabulous view into the Pacific from effectively everywhere in the hotel + English speaking and very friendly staff, especially Ken + Extremely peaceful ambience throughout the day + Great location on a hill off the seafront, several mins walk to the private beach + Natural surroundings of plants, animals, stars at night and sunrise in the morning (I was not so lucky because of the clouds) Cons - Rooms are a bit dated and small, especially the bathroom - Beach is not well maintained
General: The hotel is best reachable with our own car because it's located on Higashima Island. It's got a beautiful view over the sea with a small pool area and a restaurant. Staff was very friendly and tried to help even if they didn't know English. Food was ok - had better food in other places in Japan. The view from the restaurant is fantastic. Rooms: It's already a bit used. They could easily improve by just putting some new color on the walls and exchanging the cushions and some furniture. Onsen: Men and women are separated, no mixed onsen. Quite old. Wifi: Average.
there isn't a holiday atmosphere at the hotel difficult access to beach, spending a day at the (small) pool is not a good option poor maintenance of garden, pool surroundings and other facilities no table nor chairs at terrace seaview from the terrace is spoiled by a lot of roofing in-room wifi is very weak overall not a good quality for the price the staff did his best but could not help a lot
We have got some trouble to find a room in a rainy night on Island Hamahiga. We call to Hotel Hamahiga, a gentleman came to help us to the way to hotel. He did try his best to help us in the rainy night. We would like to give Gejo San a very big thanks. We did have a good sleep and enjoy the quiet space in the hotel.
