This is a motel style inn situated in a tiny deserted street by a railway station. Definately not a tourist destination. I’m baffled by the previous reviews of this place. The hotel is old (100 years +), but not really in a charming way. The onsens are old and in rusty tiled bath

The onsen offers a complete Japanese experience. The onsen water is vrey invigorating and there are plenty of options for Westerners who are not happy with the mixed bathing. The traditional Japanese evening meal and breakfast are a delight - although fermented beans go beyoun mo

Had a wonderful time at this hotel.
The entire staff were so courteous and professional.
Rooms were pleasantly sized and the food was pleasantly prepared using local ingredients.
Definitely recommend anyone in the area to stay here.

Hello, are all the rooms in this Ryokan smoking rooms? is it possible to book a non-smoking room?
I just texted the owner to get an answer for you. He informs me that unfortunately there are no No Smoking rooms at the Ryokan Onuma. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I will say that the room I stayed in had an ashtray but did not have any noticeable smell of smoke.

Hi, we are planning to stay Oct 12 and 13th. Your place sounds wonderful. Can we secure the room at the back with garden/courtyard please/ Thank you so much in anticipation. Anthony Woodward
"bed without meals is very budget"
"Best view, Onsen"
"Make yourself available to experience different types of hotsprings (onsen). If possible, stay for 2 nights instead of 1, so that you won't have to hurry and can fully experience relaxation."
