Miyama is a remote, rural area in the mountains 30km north of Central Kyoto. There are paddy fields and forests. Kigusuriya Ryokan's owner drove 30min to a local train station to fetch us. She is able to speak English and friendly. The room is clean and we enjoyed their home cooked yummy meals. Our beautifully and unforgettable experiences staying at...

We truly enjoyed staying in Yumi-san's home for a night. She picked us up from the train station and even brought us to visit the Kayabuki Sato thatched houses. We were so happy with the additional service and already make us feel so comfortable. Arriving at her beautiful home, we were brought to our rooms. We were the only family...

My husband and I stayed at Kigusuriya for two days in early November. We had a lovely time at this ryokan which offered delicious food and great service. This is not a luxury hotel, but felt more like a private residence. Yumi and her family were very welcoming, offered proactively to drive us to different points of interest in the...

Thank you for staying with us and writing a great review for us. Unfortunately, our facilities are not gorgeous, but some guests say they like our houses. It is very happy for whole our family, we want to keep the traditional houses as long as we can. Driving go and back to JR station also very good, I am also...

Thank you very much! We were glad to see your family enjoyed our old cottage. Summer is our most recommendable season for children. Playing in the river, walking in our village, star watching, catching fire fly, you can play with your child whole day long. I and my sons are looking forward to seeing you again!

If you after a relax and good quality food for couple of days then you must try this. Family run business but I have to say the quality of food and presentation are not just average restaurant standard. You sure can see that they have put a lot of efforts to make it almost perfect. Accomodation was great on Tatami...

This place is perfect for those who want to discover Japan off road. Welcoming is incredibly good. The food and the style of the house is authentic. And it is a perfect place to discover other aspects of Japan outside the big cities.

We stayed for 2 nights at Kigusuriya, a traditional family-run inn which was a short drive away from Kayabuki-no-sato (the thatched roof village). What struck us most was the amazing hospitality and warmth extended to us by the entire family - all 3 generations, including the cheerful boys! I had my elderly parents with me and Yumi-san was very kind...

I would like to express my gratitude to you for your warm review. Our buildings are traditional, but old. I think some of our facilities are inconvenient for your parents. Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation. I and my family hope to see you again. I play for your family's happiness and health.

It's a lovely family owned ryokan, we stayed here just one night. we really want to experience Japanese traditional house and culture. I like the fact that they offer a free shuttle from JR Hiyoshi Station. Becuz my friend and I don't have drive licenses, so we were worried about how to get there. Fresh air, beautiful scenery and delicious...

Expect to see the nature & warm welcoming atmosphere. I like since the train was getting to the station, the beautiful scenery along the journey was stunning. The feeling of entering to a silent village makes you feel special. I went running around the hotel, and it was my best track so far. The food is superb. I reckon for...

Our stay at Kigusirya was the highlight of our trip to Kyoto with a couple of days in Osaka. It off the beaten path so to speak. 45 minutes by car from the nearest train station (60 minutes from Kyoto by train). The countryside is incredibly beautiful: dense forests and clear streams. Traditionally thatched roofs were common here. The inn...
